No childminders in the village where the school is. Well there is but she's only got places during school hours.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/05/2015 18:23

You'll have to retrain as a cm.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/05/2015 18:27

Shock I couldn't cope! We don't live in the village with the school though, we are more rural. Can't see me getting much business Grin

ItalianWiking84 · 20/05/2015 18:30

You don't have trough the council guarantied child care?

SpottyTeacakes · 20/05/2015 18:31

No Italian nothing like that here

ItalianWiking84 · 20/05/2015 18:32

Btw the lady who mentioned the stain, my grandmother tought me to remove stains with lemon juice... Take s fresh lemon and cut in half
One half you use straight on the stain rubbing it in and their her half you mix the juice with a bit of water and normal washing powder fluid and then you machine wash it

ItalianWiking84 · 20/05/2015 18:33

Oh my..... Shock so if you wanna go back to work and there's no child care what do you then do?

ItalianWiking84 · 20/05/2015 18:35

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/05/2015 18:36

Hi.ipsos and welcome. There is usually someone around for a chat.
Depending on where you live I could do with a decorator. Purely in the interests of boredom prevention Wink

Welcome Ipsos.

You could decorate, garden, grow your own fruit, learn to make soft furnishings like blinds, get an allottment and grow all the veg you need. Worlds your oyster really.

There's so much free info on the Internet. I'm going to have a go at a small Roman blind for the bedroom. I have 14 windows to do. Never even sewed a button on.

Perfect time to get going with draught excluders etc to prepare the house for winter.

LaChatte · 20/05/2015 19:32

Childcare in England is a joke.

It's pretty good and cheap here in France. When DD was born she went to a crèche from 4 months old (full paid maternity ends at three months, but most GPs add an extra month on at the end) - it cost just under 200€/month for 4 full days a week, and we got 600€ worth of vouchers per year to help with that from the government, and probably about half back in tax credits, so we didn't end up paying very much at all. Then free school starts at 3 (DD wasn't even 3 when she started actually).

LaChatte · 20/05/2015 19:34

Ipsos , one word: Pinterest!

Laska42 · 20/05/2015 19:39

oh sorry la chatte I shouldnt laugh but I nearly choked on (and inhaled) my soup over the thought of an exploded sheep in the washing machine!!

Yes childminding is the big elephant in the room even after all this time of so called ' liberation' and it seems that its still not getting addressed despite what sucessive govts have to say.. I was a single parent to DS (now 24) and only managed to work through CMs, favours from friends (esp when CMs decided at 2 days notice they were giving up) and letting my EA x'D'H back into our lives much more than I wanted / needed.

I'm wondering how my DSD ( DGD 6 mths) and my DGS mum ( DSs exp.. with DGS aged 2) are going to cope when they have to go back to work .. (we live too far away to help and in any case we both still work FT)

£30 in co op today .. Hmm not looking so good for only spending £75 before payday. I promised to take DS to Aldi tomorrow also ..

Here we have 56 weeks maternity leave and 8 weeks paternity leave and then childcare is if you pay the full price approx 250£ and then depending on your income you get a reduction

SpottyTeacakes · 20/05/2015 19:46

Where are you Italian? I might come and live with you....

ItalianWiking84 · 20/05/2015 19:51
