Last two days:

11/4
£6.30 bus fares
£5 to DSD for food/bus
£1 work collection
£5.47 Boots - lunch and painkillers
89p burger after work! Blush
£3.07 iPod games (pocket money)
£5 milk etc

12/4
£67.18 tesco (far too many snacky foods!)
£12.07 Amazon order (Xmas or birthday present for DD plus DVD and game for me from my pocket money)
£5 snacks (DH took DD out for a bit)

Passthecake30 · 12/04/2015 21:00

laChatte I vote pool, boring picnic and maybe a sweet/ice cream/slush puppy as a "treat". So more like 25euros. Save the meal out for the end if you have money left?

I bought Peacocks converse copies last year and they don't fit me as well (I'm a 6 in converse but the 6 in Peacocks was too small and the 7 too big), anyway, I wore them on holiday when I didn't want to wreck the real thing. Just bought the kids the Matalan boot versions so will see how they fare too.

northender · 12/04/2015 21:17

pointless there was a 300+ post thread about the bleach/bicarbonate mix I think with people posting before and after pics Grin

Passthecake30 · 12/04/2015 22:32

Just emailed a complaint to Gap as I remembered ever called me about the size mix up of my order and I am still denim-shortless! Surely they can sort it and give me a whopping discount and free postage...watch this space!

Brokentopieces · 12/04/2015 22:55

3rd NSD in a row, hoping for another tomorrow but I'll probably need to pick up some milk

AdoraBell · 12/04/2015 23:21

£52 in the supermarket, £7 in StarbuksBlush but I had escaped the family and was shopping aloneGrin so I had a caramel macchiato and bought myself a packet of coffee beans, they have a really nice blend ATM.

Then I gave DD1 £10, 2 weeks of pocket money, as she's out tonight with a classmate. A boy, and his parents have said she doesn't need money but I'm bullet headed and she will at least attempt to by her own drinks/snacks.

Will try to catch up later, dogs need walking now.

frazzled74 · 12/04/2015 23:30

Exciting pool with slide and packed lunch! Leaves you enough money for another trip or meal !

SpottyTeacakes · 13/04/2015 05:56

I agree great pool and packed lunch.

Adora is it potentially a boyfriend or just a friend who happens to be a boy?

I've got the dentist today. I HATE the dentist. I'll have both dc with me too (4&2) which will be fun. About £20 I think?

Passthecake30 · 13/04/2015 08:07

Prompt response from Gap....a grovelling apology, 30% discount (I'd mentioned that figure) and a further 15% for another time...so will get those shorts sorted!

TeWiSavesTheDay · 13/04/2015 08:28

A nhs check up is 18.80 atm spotty. Went the other day - I really struggle at the dentist too, always try and make sure I'm extra good about brushing and flossing well in the run up so it's over quickly!

well done pass.

I was planning on taking the kids out later but I was sick in the night so think it will be another turf the kids into the garden day.

babsmam · 13/04/2015 09:15

Nsd today going to plant some allotment stuff.
Looking at stuff for my birthday later so can budget that spending. Window shopping only though

SpottyTeacakes · 13/04/2015 10:22

Yes TeWi it was £18.80. Dd and ds were both really good!

northender · 13/04/2015 11:46

Back to school for both dc today. Fingers crossed for a better term for dd.
Dh has finally had some expenses approved by work which will be a nice bonus into our account tomorrow.
Have just emailed the orthotics company about ds having a free skype consultation with them about the possibility of having chest bracing. He needs to be certain he wants to commit to it before we say a definite yes.
Need to shop later for a few bits and bobs of food to be prepared for work tomorrow and the rest of the week.
We're in the very final throes of our declutter and have discovered a bedroom carpet under all the piles of clutter in our room Smile. Once today is done it will just all need a good clean. It does feel a much better place to be now.

AdoraBell · 13/04/2015 12:55

Spotty he wants to be the boyfriend, she's not keen but something in her teenaged brain said it's okay to accept an invitation if it's a concert you really want to seeHmm

Well done Pass, good result.

Today I need to buy bread, the locusts descended when they saw Nutella in the shopping bags, and oats to make granola.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2015 14:14

Excellent response Pass.

£35 petrol
£1.50 work supplies.

Do any of you use clubcard boost vouchers? If you do, how long does it take for the vouchers to arrive?.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/04/2015 16:12

Just found a pair of converse I forgot I had similar to the ones I just bought Blush so if anyone wants a pair of size five white converse that just need a wash for postage costs before dh sees just let me know GrinGrin

throneofgames · 13/04/2015 16:17

Hi everyone,
I know I'm joining part way through the month but only just found this thread and thought what an amazing place to come for support and advice!

I am absolutely terrible at budgeting and this has got me into quite a bit of financial difficulty despite earning a decent wage. By halfway through the month I always seem to have very little money left and then the rest of the month is a panic or more likely, chance to get into further debt. The crunch point for me came today when I realised my bank was charging me £100 just in pre-notified charges. It's absolutely my own fault because I haven't been daring to check my bank balance and have been going around with my head in the sand for far too long.

So basically it's time for me to face up to reality, especially as I'm just beginning my maternity leave so I hope that you won't mind me sharing my spending for the month with you all as I go....

babsmam · 13/04/2015 16:46

Hi throne and welcome. Everyone's friendly here. do you need help budgeting? I'm rubbish at it too.
My Nsd turned very very spendy as I got my birthday present today. I have my head in the sand now.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2015 17:35

Welcome Throne, if you want the frugal tips thread let me know. I keep it on my watch list .

£9 on tea towels, Dh uses them like they are disposable when he's doing diy and then ruins them so they go in the bin . I now have 3 left so I've ordered 18 of the fuckers from Asdas smart price range.

He does it with E-Cloths too. That's probably grounds for divorce right there.

Should get 6% cashback back too.

What was the birthday present Babs? Cake for you birthday girl! Happy Birthday.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/04/2015 17:47

£9.96 lunch
£16 three summer hats, plimsolls and a birthday card.

LaChatte · 13/04/2015 17:52

Fluffy 6% cashback for a divorce? Shock

Salut Throne , your situation sounds similar to ours, we have a great income, yet seemed to be incapable of finishing the month in the black. Well, that was before I joined these threads Grin

We ended up going to slide pool (€10), nipped to the shop to pick up some sunglasses for the DCs and some ovaltine bars for me (€26 - coming out of food budget), had lunch at DM's (€0) , now home, so other than fuel (€15 - fuel budget), we only spent €10 of the €130 holiday budget!

Tomorrow, DS has a friend coming over and we're going camping (we have a plot of land down by the river), so that will be unbearable free.

We will be menu planning tonight, we have two weeks left until payday and a remaining food budget of €160, so we should be fine so long as we don't go overboard with the bare necessities: smoked salmon, lamb, ice-cream etc. luxuries.

bantamgirl · 13/04/2015 18:11

Bank: £11.81dr (was £58.50)
Purse: £0.61 (was £0.00)
Jar: £3.60 (was £7.05)

Grand Total: minus £7.60
Reduced by: £73.15
Days to payday: 2
Proper Savings: £574.29

Spends:
£11.81 – Morrisons
£58.50 – Petrol
£2.54 – bus fares

Ohh dear – the month just proved too much for me and I'm overdrawn two days before payday. However this is only because I said we might as well just fill up the car yesterday rather than faffing about. I was lucky we could do this as I have an overdraft to dip into. Petrol budget for next month will just be adjusted accordingly.

I did want to say sod it and have a takeaway tonight but we're having quiche and chips instead.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/04/2015 18:14

Oh £40 petrol used Tesco 10p off a litre and filled up??

girliefriend · 13/04/2015 18:33

Welcome throne this thread is lovely Smile

Spotty I am a size 7 Sad

Very lsd 49p on paracetamol for a headache.

Sold some of dds old football boots for £2 Grin every little helps and all that!

Will probably go to Asda after work tomos, have run out of cheese a few essentials plus dd needs new P.E shorts. She is off to camp with school on Thursday so I have a whole child free night Grin what exciting things should I do?!

babsmam · 13/04/2015 18:41

Thanks fluffy. It's not my birthday until June. The theory was window shopping today and trying on watches. I have skinny wrists and only certain faces suit me but it's that long since I wore one I needed to try. I also quite fancied a ring for my right hand. It's my 40th so I wanted a keepsake.

Dh and I have been together 20+ years and he has been on about an eternity ring for years. Anyhow there was a bargain one at the jewellery shop with a thousand off so he bought it.
I'm still not sure about spending on myself but he insisted and turns out he has saved his ot towards it.
