Girlie, YHA family rooms are nice, but you would need to start looking now, as lots of the seaside and big city rooms get booked months in advance. I wouldn't say they are that cheap either; 4 nights in Whitby in August cost about £220 at members' rates. Still, worth considering.

We had a day at the seaside today, which was actually our only day out these Easter holidays. Travel was £14.85, lunch in the beach café £10.80 and milkshakes at the end of the day £6.45. Total: £32.10, so not too bad at all.

Hope all goes well tomorrow, Spotty. Enjoy some Wine tomorrow night.

Laska42 · 09/04/2015 20:53

so £62 in co op.. this included Wine and food for weekend plus things like huggies pull ups and other stuff that we dont usually have in for DGS (2) visit this weekend.. He's potty training now.. should be interesting !!.

I'm hoping to take him to see the local Alpacas also just down the road from me ,,we are dead exotic here .. (now ive really outed myself Grin)

Laska, we are having a caravan holiday on the IOW in August. We have had two fabulous holidays there before, but not for a few years, so can't waitSmile. I love alpacas too!

Unescorted · 09/04/2015 21:03

There is a thing on BBC1 now about medicines - which ones work and which are a waste of space / money... looks as if it could be useful.

Laska42 · 09/04/2015 21:05

Evening!

six Your wedding sounds lovely, all weddings are expensive, however you do it Smile

We have two Alpacas at the farm where we keep the pony.

No holiday for us this year, too many pony related holidays and stuff for DD and a couple of school trips for DS.

£60 petrol, empty tank and £25 on XC training for DD and the pony, pony was nuts, DD had a ball. Long drive though, so fair bit of diesel too.

Veg curry for tea. With chickpeas. Had a delivery so stocked up with veggies Smile

Pointlessfan · 09/04/2015 21:48

Funnily enough we saw some alpacas today! Used the Easter treat money from my mum to have a day out at a children's farm. Diligently made sandwiches and a flask of coffee so we wouldn't waste money on food but succumbed to ice creams - too sunny to resist!
Also returned item to shop and got £24.99 refund. Spent £25 on Amazon but cc was £5 in credit so technically only put £20 on it.
Spent £6 on an emergency sun hat for DD which was tolerated for all of 20 seconds before being flung on the ground, and another £6 in the hardware shop.
In total only spent £12 of my own cash!
Putting the remainder of the Easter treat money towards brunch tomorrow. Also made menu plan and shopping list and we don't need to buy much for next week.

Passthecake30 · 09/04/2015 21:55

Another gorgeous sunny day, first day the heating hasn't been on in the evening!

Had another frugal picnic in the park, then got a bit carried away and bought 4 multipacks of ice creams Grin

Spent £30ish in Matalan, mixture of bday presents, shoes, lunchbox

£8ish on eye drops, my hayfever is hideous Sad

Currently completing an application form for a job that interviews for 3 days before my first day at my new job. 10mins drive so has to be done...even just for future experience as I would LOVE a job at my local council offices rather than commute.

babygiraffe86 · 09/04/2015 22:41

Well the sky box sold for £33 so that's a bloody bonus.
also found a river island skirt still with tags on in the wardrobe, doesn't fit so eBay for that too :)
food shop and fuel in car leaves me with £53 until next Thursday - shouldn't be an issue I hope :)

CaptainSubtext · 09/04/2015 22:50

NSD - first in ages woop :)

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2015 01:25

I haven't been to the IOW for years. Can see it from not far on a clear day though Smile

I'm up again with my throat it's so sore I could cry. Just waiting for the pain killers to kick in so I can go back to sleep...

lilacclery · 10/04/2015 06:11

You guys have been busy since I was last here! Wed was a nsd & yesterday would have been too except it seems I preordered two books on kindle in Dec. Also because I'm away next weekend I figured dh deserved a treat too. I noticed he was down to his last few pods for his coffee machine so I ordered 350 of them for €50 got a pack of herbal tea for me in order to get free delivery & use 10% off code. He's very broke at the moment so he wouldn't have bought any.

My littlewoods order came & I'm returning 2 pairs of jeans & keeping haltertop one pair & two vest tops this halves the total spend.

Put in a Tesco order totalling €115 including about 20 ice creams in multipacks. I like our top of freezer to be like a shop selection as we don't buy ice creams out. One pack has 8 value choc ice for €1.26 this is the price of one cheap ice cream out.

I must work tomo, worked one hour extra overtime last night & have done an extra slimming class too so I'm banking money for my weekend away next week. Can you tell I'm excited? Grin the jeans & haltertop are for the first night out there!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2015 06:41

Should be nsd as off to work. Also need to ask my dad if we can borrow some money as we have no spending money for disney Blush dh hasn't had much overtime which we were relying on. We have enough in savings but can't touch it for six weeks or we lose the interest.

Unescorted · 10/04/2015 10:34

Spotty - how is the throat this morning? Hope it is getting better after you awful night sleep. I hate it when I need to borrow money from my parents - I know how you feel.
Lilac - that is a great idea. I have a treat cupboard that they can have a pick & mix or crisps from, although I think I eat most of it... Blush

lilacclery · 10/04/2015 11:21

unescorted I'm still battling baby weight & he's 17 months so the treat cupboard is theirs only! My treats are 0% Greek yogurt fruit & nuts! It really works with ice cream though saves a fortune.

Edited Tesco order so now at €130 but I don't think we need meat from butchers so will come under €140 budget.

We'd a joint account spend yesterday too our blender starting smoking last week. decided to spend a bit more on a decent one this time, Kenwood €37 it has a smoothie to go option, a little pot for doing nuts & seeds and a jug blender too. Very impressed as all parts are detachable & go in dishwasher hopefully this one will go the distance

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2015 14:35

Nsd. Work was busy but the practice manager is going to send a letter to the horrible patient from two weeks ago basically saying one more stunt like that and you're out.

Going to do online food shop later I'm determined to start being healthier but still want to be frugal.

My dad was like 'yeah just let me know how much I've got it in the cupboard' HmmConfusedGrin

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/04/2015 15:09

Lila, first question I ask of anything like that or cookware is "is it dw safe?" Which didn't go down well when pil bought be pans that weren't Blush

I'd love to see the water providers supply discounted dw, it would save people so much money.

girliefriend · 10/04/2015 16:51

Would love to go the Island Laska Grin my mum took dd last summer and they loved it. Will have a look at the hostel, thanks.

So we have just got in from a day in town and at the park, so spends

£7.24 on MacDonalds Blush (fish n chips ystd and MacDs today was not part of the frugal plan!!)

£2 Ice cream for dd

£1.40 drink for me

Up £10 as took a remote control back to Argos that didn't work.

Also was very good in Primark and didn't buy anything even though my friend was encouraging me, kept repeating 'I don't need more clothes' to myself Grin also took snacks and drinks so saved a bit there.

Home now and work tomos so in theory NSD.

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/04/2015 17:34

Spotty, I'm glad they've done that. Is your throat better?.

£3 for 4 new glasses in Tesco.
£3.59 for bread, milk, cat food and marzipan choc eggs. They were buy one get one free and I am weak.
£15 in wilkos for two dining sets of crockery & a butter dish. £1.05 cashback.

£254 on the deposit for our hotel at christmas & we paid for Christmas dinner in advance and booked the time. We weren't the first to book up either.

Happy Weekend everyone.

CremeEggThief · 10/04/2015 18:00

I am pleased too,Spotty. I hope it gives you some reassurance.

Goodness me, Fluffy. Talk about being organised!

£609 in the local Spar, on 2 pizzas at a quid each and a 2 litre bottle of pop for 70p for DS's sleepover tonight, and a wedding card and a new baby card.
£1.52 posting the wedding card, which I think cost more than the card itself.
£3.85 on pancakes, waffles and juice for weekend breakfasts, a bottle of pear cider and some Phileas Fogg crisps, that were reduced to 50p, in Tesco.
Total: £ 11.46.

Happy weekend, everyone. I don't expect to get much sleep tonight, with 3 excited 12 year old boys!Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2015 18:12

Where in the country are you going fluffy? Unfortunately my throat isn't better but pain killers have dulled it down quite a bit luckily I have a stash of strong ones Grin
