Want to join me on my no-spend Easter holiday with the kids?

I'm starting my plans now so I have plenty of time to think nick ideas from the internet

I have a 4 year old and 4 month old and would like to not spend most of the holiday watching tv. My four year old has hit a stage where he is unable to play on his own because all his toys are boring, apparently.

My basic plan is to spend half the day outside and the other half doing some sort of structured craft, play or learning activity. Even if it's just an hour of jigsaws Grin. I just need to keep the costs to a minimum, which hopefully shouldn't be too hard although it means I can't retreat to soft play.

I'll be back later with the start of my list...

What about baking cup cakes or making home made pizza. Board games tournament! Walk on a beach or wood/park. Collect leaves shells then ag home do rubbings. Home cinema if it's wet. All you need do is darken room DVD and popcorn.
Geocaching as suggested. Library to pick books/DVD.

Check out BBC Things To Do for free and/or v cheap activities in your local area.

Having a friend round to play is fairly cheap (snacks?) and there is the prospect of a return visit. Personally I like a pile round at once. One child is a pest, two are less bother and three or more just disappear into the woodwork.

This easter DD1 (aged 10) is learning to touchtype - this has been quite time consuming so far, and also feels a bit useful. I have a list of birthdays needing cards coming up in the next 6 months and we have found some fun moving cards to try off the internet (split pins galore). If anyone moans they are bored and it's not raining I herd them all outside to plant veg. I also have a list of exciting indoor jobs. This discourages complaining and encourages self-amusement! So far so good.

Kids AM at the cinema is good. Check on your local cinemas website. 1.75 adult or child. My local cinema is showing Big Hero 6 and Annie this week and In To the Woods next week. The only catch is the movie is on at 10 in the morning. £3.50 just for for me and dd .. Bargain.
