I've been trying food products in Aldi and Lidl more and more recently, but haven't tried any toiletry or cleaning products (have continued to look elsewhere for offers). I just wondered if anyone can recommend any in Aldi or Lidl.

Aldi make up wipes just as good as branded, remove waterproof mascara, soft and smell good.

Aldi fabric conditioner didn't really have a smell, great for some people but I really like being able to smell it after it has dried so not for me!

Black bin bags and cleaning wipes are fine.

Not tried anything else so following thread with interest Grin

Forgot washing up liquid is great, it won Which awards and cuts through grease with less liquid. Bleach etc is much the same anywhere.

At the children's last dental check up I was told NOT to buy lidl or Aldi toothpaste as the fluoride levels aren't right for the UK. It's to do with how much each area / country puts fluoride in the drinking water.

AdventureBe · 15/06/2015 20:40

That doesn't make sense though Silas. Every area in UK has different fluoride levels in the water so how can there be one UK wide standard for the amount of fluoride in toothpaste?

In fact I was so intrigued, I Googled. There's info published by NHS Borders that lists toothpastes with less than 1000ppm, which it says are only suitable for children in fluoride areas and those which have the recommended 1450ppm. All the brands you recognise, including Lidl and Aldi are on the second list. Many of the value offerings from the other supermarkets are on the first list. Sorry, I can't link it because it goes straight from the search to the PDF.

All our cleaning products come from Lidl, although I don't buy that many. Bleach, washing up liquid, DW tabs, washing liquid.

We use the handwash as showergel. It used to be called liquid soap and has exactly the same ingredients. The pump bottle means Dc don't get through 2 bottles a week like they do with a squeezy bottle.

I had to get up in the night and wash off the nightcream because my face was burning and usually I'm not that sensitive, so I've been a bit reluctant on beauty things.

Aldi bathroom cleaner and anti- bac spray is fab., dishwasher tablets are good, as is washing up liquid. Don't like their fabric conditioners as they don't smell of much.

AdventureBe - I'm just reporting what we were told at the dentist. I think the suggestion was that there was no guarantee that they did have the ppm in them as stated (a bit like those sunscreens that say SPF 30+ and in fact are nothing like that) so it was best to avoid them all together.

My Lidl toothpaste has 1450ppm! Leaves teeth feeling fresh and clean as well.
