i know we are all meant to try to save some money in case of job loss or illness, but how much is a decent amount to have in-case of emergency.
im aiming at the moment to 3 months worth of bills. im not where near there yet, only just started by cutting back on other stuff. but im thinking actually it should be 3 months of income. which is a fair whack more.
what is your 'comfortable' amount?

In the ideal world, £2-3,000 for household emergencies - we had to use our savings for what we felt was one, as our boiler packed up a few years ago in November. Two engineers couldn't work out what was wrong and Ideal wouldn't do a premium rate call out despite the fact the boiler was only nine years old. A few weeks of no heating or hot water, made me glad we could have a new boiler installed before Christmas, whereas my brother-in-law went without all winter.

We have one month's take home in an instant access account and a further 5 months in investments, that can be cashed as and when the shit hits the fan..
