Electricity gone from £18 to £70 - how??!

Moved into a new house in October.

First month, monitored gas/electric. Electric bill was £18. Quite happy with that!

Haven't done anything different this month, and just entered my meter readings and the bill is £70!!!

Racking my brains to think what has made the difference. We have had the Christmas lights on, DH installed an outside security light, possibly the dryer has been on a little bit more, we've probably had the kettle on more (visitors etc!) but will that make a difference of another £50?

Any ideas??!!

New year because as I said, I don't use them. I don't drink tea/coffee so no point having it full of water and plugged in when its used once in a blue moon.

I very rarely have toast like once a month so no point that being plugged in

I've used my microwave about 5 times in as many months so once again no point having it plugged in and on when nobody uses it.

But it doesn't use electricity unless it's actually on and working though (or does it?!)

no it doesn't - just switch off at the wall. No need to unplug.

No but I use the sockets for other things and things that are plugged In that I don't use irritates me lol
