How warm is your house right now?

It's 16.3c in my lounge and barometer in my hall says about 15.5c (late morning). Heating was on for 75mins this morning and will be put on again when my DD comes home around 5pm. Just wondering how warm others keep themselves. Do you give in and put the heating on or do you want to try and keep bills down?

We haven't put the heating on at all yet. It was freezing outside the other night - thick frost - and I was sitting on the sofa thinking it was so warm I could do with taking my jumper off, and too warm to take a hot water bottle to bed. Even the children seem warm, so it must be something magic to do with our new rental flat.

FluffyRedSocks · 25/11/2014 12:30

I've never heard about it not being warmer than 19 with a baby!! My thought was that when they were inside me I kept the house the temp I wanted, and if they are used to a warm house then they will be fine! Put it to where you want it and enjoy!!

Farfromthetree · 25/11/2014 12:31

So it must be to do with living in a flat, and having lots of humans in a very small amount of space - like living in a cowshed!

gamerchick · 25/11/2014 12:32

Heating off here. I'm alone in the house and I don't mind the cold really these days.

Big oversized fleece and slipper boots do the job and when my toes get cold I do housework at speed to warm up Grin

Fcukfifa · 25/11/2014 12:36

Just checked my thermostat and it's 21c in my living room, infact I'm starting to think it might be time for a nap for me and ds2

Shesparkles · 25/11/2014 12:37

Don't know the actual temperature but it's cold! I don't tend to put the hearing on if I'm home alone, but I wear a fleece or body warmer in the house

Glastokitty · 25/11/2014 12:41

28c at 8 pm. Must put the air con on. I'm in Oz though, and a storm is brewing.

Damnautocorrect · 25/11/2014 12:45

It's about 12 here, I've got a blanket and hot water bottle, but my fingers are starting to stop working as in sewing some clothes up. I've just closed the curtains to try and keep some heat in.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/11/2014 12:46

I'd guess 15 or 16c. I refuse to put the heating on though unless I'm really cold.

I've lived in poorly insulated houses in the country so this is flipping warm by comparison anyway.

octopal · 25/11/2014 12:53

Just checked room thermometer. It's 15.4 here but feels ok. Sun coming in through big kitchen window. Oil heating on for 30 mins when we were getting up and I'll light the fire this evening.

LightastheBreeze · 25/11/2014 16:08

Heating is on, set at 18c all day. will put it up to 19 or20c for the evening sitting in front of TV.

InMySpareTime · 25/11/2014 16:25

14.8C in the living room, but the heating's come on now, so it'll reach a balmy 16 by dinner time. Layers and blankets all the way!

Lagoonablue · 25/11/2014 16:31

Cold. Heating has just come on. Set for 20degrees. We have an open fire in the lounge though and the heat flies up there when we don't light one. May have to get a chimney balloon.

oneofthosedays · 30/11/2014 13:11

It's 16.5 deg in the living room - heating has been on for 30 mins this morning and we're all busy doing housework, making meals, kids playing etc so no-one really feels cold. It will come on again at 4pm and the house will be about 18 deg for the evening when we are sat watching TV etc.

Where I'm sat its currently 19C. Heating hasnt turned itself on since first thing (its set to 17) so finally I feel all of our insulating etc is paying off.

FurryDogMother · 30/11/2014 13:31

We haven't got central heating (nor a room thermometer), but the Calor gas fire in this room is keeping things cosy. The rest of the house is pretty baltic, but should warm up once I start roasting a chicken for dinner :) Our bedrooms are unheated year-round (and I have the window open all year too), but I have 2 thick duvets on my bed, plus a microwaveable pad thing to take the chill off the sheets.

cozietoesie · 06/12/2014 10:41

Just over 11 degrees right now. The gas people turned off the boiler on Thursday due to a crack in something so no boiler fired heating or water until this afternoon when the new parts should arrive. I've taken to bed and the electric blanket rather than put on electric fires. (And I'm the only one not moaning.)

Most of the gas saved in the last two days is likely to be used in a flood of glorious heat once the new parts are fitted. I think I might put the thermostat up to 20 or something for a good few hours.

Fluffy40 · 06/12/2014 10:47

About 20 degrees in the lounge, we get the morning sun to keep us warm, and the heating comes on at one pm for a boost.

22c in our kitchen lounge - south facing a super insulated tho - rest of the house is around 20c

ilovechristmas1 · 09/12/2014 19:19

22-24 in lounge,real fire

18 approx rest of house

Taytocrisps · 10/12/2014 21:21

I don't have a thermostat but it feels pretty cold. I suspect this house isn't very well insulated. I wouldn't mind but it's a relatively new house (11 years old). If it's in any way windy, we always have draughts blowing down our chimney and through our front door and down our hall. If I come into money at any stage, I'll get a porch fitted and maybe replace the open fire with a stove so I can close the stove doors if I'm not using it. I'm going to bed now just to keep warm 'cos it's stormy tonight and there seems to be draughts all over the house. There's no point in putting on the heating again - it's a losing battle.

ProveMeWrong · 10/12/2014 21:24

Im sat by the radiator if that tells you anything! I air the house in the morning as we get mould on the ceiling and I want to keep it ventilated, then I warm it up at 1pm when husband and toddler come back for lunch. I then try to resist while toddler naps until 4ish then stick it on to dry some clothes and warm my extremities! It's bliddy freezing!

elephantspoo · 13/12/2014 03:34

15 degrees. Can't control room by room.
