My chillies did really well outside last summer, missannersly, though I did forget I should take them in over winter so will need a new one this year :-/

£14.04 in aldi.

Car is going in tomorrow for a new oil sump so that will be well over £100 I think :(

LizLemonOut · 04/03/2014 20:28

Oh lordy! Blush Blush Blush Sorry, my phone must've had a nervous breakdown! Well, in case there was any confusion over the state of my chillies - good all summer, now dead. Lemon out...

AdoraBell · 05/03/2014 00:04

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/03/2014 07:36

We need bread, milk and hot chocolate for dd Hmm but dp will be getting it so should be nsd for me Grin need to get ds an EHIC card.

Anyone know where I can get cheap empty bottles, the travel size ones? I was thinking it's cheaper to dispense into those than but specific travel toiletries.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2014 09:48

Hahaha!!!

I just bought hair dye with my boots points. Usually get it done professionally so saved £80

expectingnumber3 · 05/03/2014 10:26

NSD for me today. Been spending way too much!

You lot have got me thinking about the garden. Dh built raised beds last year so want to use then this year. Will sit down with the Suttons catalogue later and choose some yummy stuff. Liz, are chillies ok without a greenhouse?

LizLemonOut · 05/03/2014 11:50

I daren't answer, expecting Blush

Dropped car off at garage and walked back, saving bus fare and burning some calories. Meeting a friend across town later, will walk there and back but will buy a tea when I'm there (but ONLY a tea!)

I managed 10 NSDs last month, aiming for a rather ambitious 20 this month. Does anyone else have a number in mind?

Jinty64 · 05/03/2014 12:03

I would love 15 NSD's this month. I have been a bit spendy Monday and Tuesday but am getting back on track. Should be a NSD today. My 2nd this month.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/03/2014 12:54

Is the suttons book on topcashback or quidco?

Lemons that has made me laugh.

Cooked 1.3kg rib beef sun was £10 on offer and had as roast sun and Mon then in egg fried rice yesterday plus sandwiches yesterday n today remainder is in gravy with mushrooms n onions with a cheesy mash topping that's fed 2 adults n a toddler so although expensive outlay 4 main meals def worth it.

So tempted to book a weekend away its group on deal advertised as one night n they have said will do second night for same rate n no xtra for toddler if book direct with them so dinner bed breakfast 2 nights family room for £110 total its an inn so pub with 5 rooms reviews seem ok going for day trip half hr from there so reasonable distance from home of an hr but will be good break n then I think what if weather is rubbish and inn is crap high decisions

potbellyroast · 05/03/2014 15:13

Hello, can I join in please?

Been inspired by you all for a while, so thought I'd join 'proper'

Did my first shop at Aldi this week spent £42 which was OK as I stocked up on a few things but what's with the supersonic checkout people??!! I couldn't throw my food fast enough in the trolly to keep up with her!

Got my bread maker out again - so sorry can't remember who posted that and on what thread I've read that many, I can't remember what I've read where Done HFW magic bread. Didn't have the proper measuring equipment, so was a bit worried about how it might turn out. However it was luffly. Pizza dough in as we speak as DD is brining home friend for tea.

Would like to say I've had NSDs but alas not. That being said, I've spent to save - is that allowed? Hair clippers for DH and 2DS hair cost £15, so should pay for itself after 3 cuts. Other spends are school dinner money and school trip, so although spends they were planned.

Would normally have had takeaway and wine on a Sunday - didn't this last weekend, so put £40 in another account as I'm going to try and spend a lot less on wine silly things and see how it mounts up. £50 so far.

arabellarubberplant · 05/03/2014 15:37

Have you set up a separate account for that, potbelly? Will you transfer it each month to pay off debt, or are you saving for something in particular?

You may have inspired me to find my bread maker though....

Yesterday I bought a small salad for lunch in staff canteen so not NSD.
Have to write a cheque for dd1's dance class tonight, so not NSD today, either... Hmm.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/03/2014 17:52

The hfw bread is nicer than the bread from all the usual recipe books & cheaper too.

Things not so good here. DH has 17 applications still in and nothing is moving. They're all jobs and contracts at his level.

Most worried about housing. We can't afford this place beyond May and we won't get HB because we own a house elsewhere which has tenants in it so we can't even rent anything cheaper. All I can think of us to move in with the inlaws which is a terrifying prospect. I'm not sure how we've got to this point. I'm actually terrified.

claretandamberforever · 05/03/2014 18:43

Hi all,

new job is going really well. I'm back in the swing of things (I worked there before) and I'm utterly loving the flexi time and the ability to control my own hours.

Finally, finally did my reconciliations. My bills account will be running from start of month to end of month but my spends account will be running from 15th to 14th.

This means an unexpected bonus this month as I had 3 weeks wage from the last job (paid 28th Feb), and 1 week wage from new job (paid in on 27th Feb) however I then get a full week wage from new job on 15th as well as a cheque from my insurance company for the car (£206) and Road Tax refund (£56).

so I have worked out to last me until 15th

Groceries: £175 / £85.41 spent
Petrol: £128 / £64.00 spent
Kids: £102.95 / £21.70 spent
Bus; £28.00 / £14.00 spent
Everything else: £776.58

The everything else budget is a bit incorrect as I haven't been tracking my spends for the past week so I'll start today with everything else spends which is easy as it was an NSD.

BUT I got my new job wage slip and because it is public sector, I have to pay nearly 6% into a pension (it's not worth opting out in the long term) and also my tax code is going to be only 901L when everyone elses will be up to £10000 (or whatever it is) so I'll be paying extra tax and actually coming out with less than I did at my old job even though my annual salary is more?

arabellarubberplant · 05/03/2014 18:43

Can you serve notice on your tenants? And move there? Or put that house on the market?

claretandamberforever · 05/03/2014 18:48

Hugs to you Helena, I can't do anything practical but I am here to listen to you xxx

fuzzpig · 05/03/2014 18:57

(((Helena))) sorry to hear that :( any chance your parents or ILs could lend you a bit to tide you over?
