Spotty Grin

NSD so that makes 3 in row which is a personal best Smile not that impressive really but it's a start. Am doing a shop tomorrow as it's pay day in the Ellisisland house.

AdoraBell · 19/03/2014 14:56

Personal bests are always impressive Ellis, coz, like, it's your personal best. Cut yourself some slackWink

I need To Get a couple of things Today, not much. DD2 keeps getting constipated despite an abundance of veg and fruit. I haven't bought oranges in a while though as they've been spongy, will look again. My late father swore by an orange a day.

That's a good idea for the tyres. DH is finally getting his head around not using a main car dealership for everything.

MissAnnersleyismyhero · 19/03/2014 15:31

I hardly dare post this (and I'll believe it when I see it) but Scottish Power have just said they're refunding me £37 and sending me an apology & letter confirming I owe them nothing and am no longer a customer. Shock

If we get the £37 we will use it for a garden brazier to burn our garden waste and shredded paper. woo-hoo!

MissAnnersleyismyhero · 19/03/2014 15:51

Spendy day today, proving once more that spending some money makes you spend more money!

£14 on 2l. of milk, tea bags, and all the ingredients to make hot chocolate and chocolate nests/mini egg buns for most of my classes (6 bars choc, shredded wheats, 4 bags mini eggs, mini marshmallows, Hot choc powder)
£1 on hair conditioner in pound land (much cheaper than my old £13 stuff Shock )
£1 on sweets in poundland - only had 2 of them though virtuous

£7.95 Shock Shock for postage for 2 paperback books to my stepdad for his birthday. Royal Mail are out of control.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/03/2014 16:37

Argh I'm worried my sausages might be off. They've gone grey and have a smell to them. They're sausages I haven't before so not sure what they should smell like? They were best before today. I'm cooking them anyway....should I not bother?

LizLemonOut · 19/03/2014 16:39

I'm just checking in. I have been bad Sad need to get back on the wagon. Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/03/2014 16:45

If they smell off bin them, grey might mean they haven't been treated to stay pink.

On hold to SSE.

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 19/03/2014 16:50

They only smelt slightly iffy. I'm going to risk it they were really expensive Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/03/2014 17:01

Chicken sometimes confuses me, unless its slimy or obviously off I risk it. Dh wouldn't like it if he knew how often I serve sprouty potatoe, oddly it's those nights that the compliments come Confused

SSE are refunding me £51 & lowering my DD from £77 to £59.

£3 for lunch because I was out all day not just an hour. I think I'm going to have to freeze some sandwiches for days like this.

MissAnnersleyismyhero Have you considered a compost bin? I'm getting one with a base, subsidised by the council, for £25. Dh will kill me but I'll have free soil fertiliser & there is a shortage of phosphorous looming so fertiliser will get pricey.

Adora Main dealers are a big rip off, they over charge on labour by charging you for how long the manufacturer says it should take to do not by how long they actually take to do a job.

Was pleased with a cheap food shop today - £75 including some hospital bag treats, and plenty of stuff in there to batch cook.

Have spent some money on post natal clothes too (£100 on shoes and tops) but it's been long budgeted for and, short of going out in just my pants, fairly essential.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/03/2014 19:11

I deleted my next vip sale invitation

Iamnotanugget · 19/03/2014 19:33

possibly inspire me, what should I be putting in my hospital bag?

£1 on biscuits as I had a friend coming round but she bought cake so I still have them. Should keep them for next time someone comes round but I bet I don't!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/03/2014 19:35

I never packed my hospital bag. Dd born 36 weeks and ds 35 Hmm

Ellisisland · 19/03/2014 19:35

Well done spotty ! I unsubscribed from all offer emails as I was worried about getting tempted!

Discovered I had a pound credit on my amazon account tonight so downloaded this to my kindle www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00J3UTUCC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1395257183&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165

A friend recommended it to me as it's lots of tips to save money and get organised. Only 77p so figured it was worth a go. You are all jealous of my exciting evening ahead I can tell.

Payday tomorrow! Shame most of the bills come out the day after. But for one day a month my account looks great Grin

Jinty64 · 19/03/2014 19:43

Whoops! £16 on a haircut. £48 on school uniform for ds3 and £53 in Aldi this morning. I have already told the teenagers (twice) that it has to last all week. I got a good sized bag of tortilla chips and a jar of salsa for about £1 for both which they seem to be very pleased with.

NK5BM3 · 19/03/2014 19:53

Was an NSD in that I brought own lunch etc. but dh's car went for an mot. £99 which included wiper replacement and battery for remote. I guess that's ok.

Tomorrow busy day at work. Coming home late as hosting an impt guest... Actually have two important guests and they are coming one hour after the next. Panicking, hoping for the first one to leave early so that can make it on time for the next.

northender · 19/03/2014 20:00

Only spend here today was £2 y dh on a bacon roll this morning before a job interview. The interview is part of a restructure and he doesn't feel it went too well Sad . However if he doesn't get the post he wants he will have something pay protected for 2 years so not the end of the world.
I rang Barclaycard today and asked for the £48 credit I (overpaid!) inexplicably ended up with when I closed the account. To my amazement they triggered a bacs payment straight away.

northender · 19/03/2014 20:03

Forgot to say, I got a cub jumper for Dd on eBay for £6 Inc postage

CoolCadbury · 19/03/2014 20:20

ellis. You deserve a big Thanks for suggesting I email Gap. Well, I did and they are going to refund me the delivery charge.

ohhelp that is an excellent tip re:tyres. I have an MOT and service coming up and I fully expect them to say something about my tyres. So thanks for that.

NSD today. I got organised and made a sandwich, using home made buns.

I keep hearing about frozen sandwiches on mn. How do they work then? I don't like what I call boring sandwiches (ham or cheese). I like to put in, for example today, avacado, mozzarella, and tomato as my filling. Or leftover curried chicken with salad sandwich. Would it work with these types of fillings?

CremeEggThief · 19/03/2014 20:21

Spendy day today. Only spent £14.38 in real money (travel, lunch out, a token birthday present for my sister from DS and milk. Used my JL voucher for coffee and cake too.), but a trip to Primark set me back £135.50! However, that's all DS' s holiday and summer wardrobe now and some basics and holiday stuff for me too.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/03/2014 20:30

Only boring sandwiches freeze well. Ham & mustard or corned beef and pickle, cheese & pickle etc.

Sad
OP posts:
CoolCadbury · 19/03/2014 20:35

Ah ok. Frozen sandwiches aren't for me then.

ilovepicnmix · 19/03/2014 20:35

NSD for me.

frazzled it sounds like you're doing well.

CoolCadbury · 19/03/2014 20:36

creme. Ooh, where are you going on holiday? I looked in January for summer holidays abroad and I nearly had a heart attack. So expensive.

Passthecake30 · 19/03/2014 20:45

Dp's bday today and it was a frugal one....kids got him sweets and shower gel (with nectar points) and I got him Gap jeans with 30% off. Had a full English breakfast with chips tonight, a huge treat for him.

Babysitter is coming on sat and I'll have to pay for a meal somewhere, but at least I kept the cost of today down
