Hello,

Looking for advice. I currently am on benefits and single parent of one. I have unexpected bill been taken this week and don't have any food whatsoever. I have tried welfare and social work and none can help as they have previously helped. I'm so stressed. All I'm looking for is food or someway of getting it. I've never been as desperate as this and worried and can't feed family. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thank you x

Someone gave me a link to a mystery shopping site. If you can get on there you can earn small amounts of money and they will pay for a sandwich or meal from time to time, pm me if you are interested.

Could you not ask family members?
DC father?
Friends?
Failing that your only option is if you have anything of worth to sell it.
Hope you get sorted.

Honey, can you go to a neighbor and ask for a few bits? I know if my neighbour came to my door, I would be happy to pack up a bag from what I had in the house.

Have come across this, may be something near to you that could help?

Yes, ask neighbours. If one of mine wanted food I would give it.
Try ringing round all the local churches and other religions.

Not much use at this time of year but we are often able to pick foods - forage - blackberries in season etc (and some people get free food from the bins of big food stores although you might not want to do that - much of it is in a very good state particularly if you walk to a more prosperous area).

Great link 2014

St Vincent de paul [svdp] are active in most catholic churches after mass at weekends. They will visit you at home and help if they can.

There are no more crisis loans.

Funnyfoot · 09/02/2014 11:13

I hope the OP got sorted. Threads like this always concern me. Sad

Loaves and fishes do a meal in renfield st stephen's on a Monday night. Two courses, 6pm. There is a limit on numbers - it's a sit down meal - so get there early.

AgentProvocateur · 09/02/2014 11:29

Or try the Sikh temple at charing cross or the Mosque, as previously mentioned.

Whatnamenext · 09/02/2014 13:43

Hello - welcome to mumsnet. If you haven't got anything sorted yet can you post a list if food you do have? Maybe we could advise on how to stretch it?

Newbizmum · 02/03/2014 14:30

Start doing surveys online. Not immediate I know but you should, after around 3 months, be able to get income up to a couple of hundred pounds a month.

Crisis grant from the council.
