Would anyone like to join me in a 2014 savings thread?

By the end of 2014 I would like to have £1200 in my savings account, so I wondered if anyone else would like to set a target, big or small and then we can motivate each other to save.

For me, my main savings will come from not spending in Costa, getting the bus back rather than a taxi after getting the late train on Tuesdays and using coupons/vouchers etc.

I've been putting 150 a month into a cash/shares isa for 29 months now.

So that is £4350 worth of installments...i've not really been paying much attention to it but my balance is now around £5100. So i've made over £750 free money without breaking a sweat.

We are looking to move home this year and need around £43,000 (deposit, moving costs, decorating/ doing up costs) to make this happen. We need an extra £6500 this year to reach that goal (discounting current ongoing savings, and continued over payments on mortgage increasing our equity).

So £530 a month. On course this month (just). We shop around regularly for the best deals on certain things so the only way of reaching our target is being old fashioned and saying "no" more...going to be tough.

I saved £4000 between June and Dec 2013, and need to save at least another £2000 by end of April, for new flooring and bathroom revamp. Then I need to save for next year's holiday (no hol this year) and to replace a (reluctant) withdrawal from capital to replace my car. So that is at least another £6000 from April to June 2015. I am committed to no new clothes, music, films, books (in whatever format), plants/bulbs for 12 months and no 'fritter' spending. I am also selling some of my overstocked wardrobe through a couple of dress agencies.
I have a Santander 123 current account which pays good interest (3% gross on £3000-20,000 balance) and cash back on some spending/direct debits.

I am not giving up the occasional outing or coffee/lunch with friends.

It is really motivating to read that other people are making sacrifices to keep the savings on track, i am only a few weeks in but so far so good. This whole thread has prompted me to look at our household finances as a whole. Pensions, mortgage, isas the lot. It might be a while before i get that new car, but when i do i will know i really can afford it.
