Best place to sell used baby clothes?

I'm finally getting round to sorting out and selling DS's old baby clothes.
Where's best to sell them? Ebay, Facebook local, Gumtree? Something else? I don't have a car so a boot sale would be difficult...

I wouldn't bother with Ebay - I've just sold my first thing and already have to open a dispute as the buyer has pulled out so have spent loads of time weighing stuff and listing them and the only thing I sold hasn't actually sold! Plus they charge commission on postage now so that eats into your profit.
Gumtree or your local classifieds might be a good bet?

Lagoonablue · 21/11/2013 15:34

Netmums local (sorry!). They do a nearly new buy and sell board but you won't make much tbh. You need to sell as a bundle.

Ebay is hard work if it is low value stuff you are selling IME.

Geckos48 · 21/11/2013 15:36

Facebook

BornToFolk · 21/11/2013 15:38

Thanks! NCT nearly new sale would be good but there are none near me and it would be hard getting there with no car anyway.

Yeah, I had a scout round on ebay last night and most of the bundles are selling for peanuts. I'm sure when I was looking for baby clothes bundles for DS they were much more expensive...

I've got a load to sell so I think I might try a variety of methods.

Hi
I've had lots of success selling my DD's clothes (and other stuff) on gumtree.
I advertise them as large bag/box/bundle of clothes. For example last week I advertised her 9-12 mths clothes as "a large bag, over 40 items in great condition, from a smoke free and pet free home" and put a photo of them on. I had 3 replies and sold them within a couple of days.
I just put my email address on and state collection only and then arrange a time when my DH is home. I'm a bit worried about strangers coming to my house!
I've sold all her clothes so far using this method.
Hopefully you'll make some cash for xmas - good luck!

Let me know where you end up selling born if you have any 18-24 or 24months + bundles I'm interested in buying! Smile

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 26/11/2013 10:20

Have you tried Relike?

I hope that link works, I'm on the app.

The lady who runs it is a Mumsnetter, it's a really clever idea. ( Not me, sadly)

PenguinsDontEatPancakes · 26/11/2013 10:22

What sort of brands? If you have any stuff of brands like Boden, Joules, etc then there are Facebook groups where you get really good prices for stuff. Some are hidden and you have to be introduced by a member, but I'm sure people on here can help you track them down.

It's definitely worth separating out the 'brands' from all the supermarket stuff, etc.

YesAnastasia · 26/11/2013 10:25

I sort out all the 'good' stuff and sell that separately on ebay (Coats, Boden, Joules, anything designer) then I do nearly new sales & sell stuff really cheaply but can get rid of a lot.

I use this one but it might just be in the North.

BornToFolk · 26/11/2013 11:38

Thanks for the tips.

I've listed a couple of bundles on ebay and then a few more on Gumtree. No bidders/buyers yet! I'm not sure if I've priced the stuff on Gumtree right though Hmm

I'll check out Relike, it looks perfect.

FairyJen At the moment, I'm working my way through the newborn-1 year stuff but if I find where I've stashed the older stuff, I will certainly let you know.

As for brands, there's nothing really good. It's mostly M&S/Next/H&M so good quality, mid range stuff but nothing that's going to get anyone very excited!

Hi, due to buyers not turning up and other problems selling on Facebook, I've created a website myself to make it easy to sell baby and childrens items locally. You simply enter your postcode and can find all items nearest to you. If a buyer fails to collect, the item can be relisted with just one click.

The website has just gone live and it's free, no fees, so we need sellers in all areas of the UK.

The website is [www.buyanythinglocal.com] and I would be very interested in hearing what people think of it. There is a feedback link at the bottom of each page.

DeeDeeDeeDee · 15/11/2018 15:47

Oops, I didn't do the link right, and preview message did not work, so here it is again (hopefully):
www.buyanythinglocal.com for new and preloved baby and childrens clothes, toys & games, etc

Lou0219 · 02/02/2019 20:25

Sell them on Shpock local people will find you easier

Laika0109 · 16/03/2019 22:03

Hey :)

I have a lot of baby stuff I would like to sell. Anybody who knows where I can sell it? Everything from equipment to clothes. Some of it is brand new and I have receipts and warranty for the baby equipment

Tobebythesea · 22/05/2019 20:06

Good quality branded items such as Boden or Next sell well on eBay. Look out for local Mum2mum markets, they are a good start and I’ve had some success on local FB sites but I did have some time wasters too.

hellooosweetheart · 23/05/2019 22:46

I tried to sell old clothes online but nobody wants to buy second hand clothes for more than a few £££. In the end I just gave them away.

LoadsaBlusher · 02/06/2019 07:18

Set up a preloved page on Instagram

I sell leggings / converse / clarks shoes / jackets etc

Can do flatlay photos and make your page look v attractive
Payment is via PayPal no fees

If you go to Instagram and search preloved a lot of the baby selling pages will come up

I sell 80% of my DC clothes on insta now.

You can post up to 2kg of items for £3 Royal Mail second class so I generally post out little bundles with £3 postage

The good stuff I put in eBay as buy it now ( brand new with tags / boxed shoes etc )
Any bodysuits / vests / bobbly stuff goes straight into clothing recycling banks
Not worth selling these types of items.
