Very impressed with Aldi!

I did my first weekly shop at Aldi a couple of days ago and I'm really impressed. We normally spend around £150 per week in Sainsburys, but I did a full shop in Aldi, including treats, some cleaning products, and a month's supply of loo roll, for just under £70!!

I'm definitely sticking with Aldi! I normally hate supermarket shopping as there is so much choice, but I actually found the Aldi experience reasonably enjoyable as it was just so straightforward

I agree, I started shopping there a couple of months ago and spend about £40 a week as opposed to £100 a week in sainsburys. I still go to sainsbury's once a month for certain things you can't get in Aldi (cat will only eat a particular brand!) but I stock up on that so I only have to go once a month. I find shopping much quicker in Aldi too, in and out as there's not much choice but I have to say, we've liked everything we have got from there and the quality is great for the price. Definitely a convert!

I love Aldi, love the size, the fact that things remain in the same place and it doesn't give me sensory overload, the speed and efficiency of the checkout staff and the fact they don't try to involve me in inane social chit chat, the price, the quality, hell, I even love the Aldi adverts!

right. We don't have an Aldi or a Lidl or a Morrisons. We have a Co Op and a Waitrose. I cannot spend any less than £150 per week I want an Aldi

Oh no that's a shame FunnysInLaJardin. How far is it to your nearest Aldi? Is it near enough to maybe do a fortnightly or three weekly shop there and then top up from your local stores?

ILikeToClean; my cat is the same too (will only eat tuna herring and veg flavour Go-cat). Might give her a go on Aldi food though just to see if she likes it.

devilinside, I love the speed of the checkout too. I'd say when I went this week all the items had been scanned and I'd paid in about 3 minutes. So much quicker than Sainsburys!

I like Aldi as well.
You can actually get up and down the aisle without having to squeeze past numerous staff stacking the shelves.

It's great. The cleaning products and washing powder is great and if you have small dcs, try the nappies - just as good as pampers and half the price.

Recent Aldi convert here, too.

Got fed up of being fleeced by the likes of Tesco, so I now do a weekly shop in Aldi plus a few bits from Lidl, and use my local small supermarket for milk & bread & top-up stuff.

DH & DC like the stuff, & it's saving us a fortune.

yes I use the laundry stuff now and the washing up liquid, although I buy fairy too.

They do really good floor wipes as well. Nice and big and smell nicer than CIF wipes.

Funnys - same here. In fact our Waitrose is moving to a bigger store. When I suggested on a local FB page that the old one should become a morrisons/asda/aldi/lidl the local snobs almost had a coronary!

So we're stuck with Waitrose, Sainsburys or Co-op.

I like aldi quiet and easy to get round, I don't want loads of people in there buying all the wine and cashews.

Fluffy, at least it will keep them away from Home Bargains!

PS, having been a fan of all things cheapie for at least 10 years, I just find these 'I love Aldi/Lidl' threads hilarious. Where have these people been all their lives?

Seriously tho', I spent some time in Germany where, at the time at least, the local supermarkets were quite small. Came back to UK and nearly had sensory overload in a Tesco in Sale (Gr Manchester). Since then realised that limited choice can be a good thing.

I've only discovered Aldi in the last few weeks and I've been amazed at how cheap things are and how good the quality is.

Unfortunately I'm now addicted to their chocolate brioche.

Did a 60 aldi shop yesterday. So glad I finally motivated myself to go down there and do it properly
I have just eaten two big focaccia module by myself though dd2 had a crack. Extra delicious!
For what we spent my trolley was over flowing. They had Cornish strawberries i was so impressed
