Poundland or similar hair dye.

So I took the plunge and got rid of the grey hairs (lots of thanks to the Style and Beauty thread.) I used L'Oreal. Lovely effect. Really pleased. Then I spotted some stuff in the 99p store. Anyone tried it? I am pretty skint as you can probably tell and if it's all the same stuff, then why not?

if you buy a kit, make sure you do an allergy test on your skin and a strand test to check the finished result

Home Bargins sell branded hair dye cheaper then normal shops. I get XXL from there

I don't have a Home Bargains near me.

Superdrugs own make is always much cheaper.

I used one from poundland once and it was fine tbh.

I've used a pound shop brand for my grey roots, rather than a Nice'n'Easy root touch up thing. It was fine,perhaps a little dark, so I don't know that I would use it all over. Mind you I have to leave it on ages as my grey is so stubborn.

I know someone who buys branded dyes cheaply from various pound or other bargain stores. they seem to be ok (never seen her have a disaster). The downside is that she is unlikely to be able to get the same colour again.

I always buy the dark brown hair dye from poundland as it dyes my hair black which is just what I wanted. It does just as good job as any other dye I have used.

In my opinion the cheaper they are the quicker they fade.

I just got 3 Superdrug Foam colours for the price of 1 (£5.99) so slightly more than £1 but it was really good, easy to use and a lovely colour.

What about lush henna?.

I was recommended that. But I doubt that Lush is cheap and henna does sound a faff. The L'Oreal stuff was really easy and totally worked. Now, I want to spend even less, tightwad that I am.

Has anyone tried the hair dyes from Aldi? Are they any good?

I've read something on here about aldi dye being ok.

I forgot to add to my first post WRT foam dyes, my hair is really thick and quite long and with traditional dyes I need 2 packs but with foam I only need one, which obviously saves money, thought it might be useful to add.

I always dye my hair using a clairol dye from home bargains £2.69 I think. It's great and leaves my hair super shiney too.

I get my hair done at the salon but am SO grey it needs doing every 4 weeks and I cant afford that so I use Wilkos £1 a pack dye to do my roots and it's brilliant. And I'm the hair dye queen, have used them all and honestly this one is fab.

Poundland dye is absolutely fine-use it all the time.I am a dark,chestnutty colour so I use the dark brown to give me a chocolately brown colour.the darkest brown is a bit too dark for me. Aldi is also fine.I used always use Castings but dont bother any more-honestly no difference only less colour choice.

I like the aldi ones. Have tried them all and they are as good as any imo. I use medium brown which doesnt fade too much and most importantly doesnt go ginger/red like a lot of them.At around £2, an absolute bargain

Another fan of Aldi hair dye.
I usually choose a chocolate brown colour, and am always happy with the result. My DS1 (3.5) chose my dye last time, mahogany red. It covered well, and the colour was good, but it has faded quite fast, so shall be back to brown on Payday!
But for less than £3, I can afford to dye mine every 8 weeks or so if needed :)

Do I just leave the dye on a bit longer or what? I dyed my hair last year and it didnt really cover them the best. Think it was clairol!
