Money Magpie-has anyone used?

Looking at ways of getting some extra cash in to clear debt and have so many old books and CDs hanging around wondered if its worth trying these? Any experiences good or bad with them?

Its a lot of work for a small amount of cash typing in te barcodes took a while. My sister sold a load of DVD's that were quite recent and she averaged 50p per disc. She did it anyway as she didn't want them so it was better than giving them to charity.

I mean for her its better than giving them to charity as she got some some money back...just realised that sounded odd the way I worded it!

Haha! I knew what you meant! I'm thinking that with baby number 2 on the way it could well be worth me doing to clear some space and also to get a bit of cash as I could do with clearing some debt too! Did she find they we're decent to use and didn't just take the stuff and drag on giving the money? Thanks for replying so quickly!

Works fine, they just don't pay very much. If you have a smartphone there's an app so you can scan the barcodes rather than typing them all in.

They get the money to you quickly. My brother used them last christmas and he got the money quickly too...just not a lot of it.

I was disappointed with what I was offered so listed them on Ebay. Sold for approx £55 more than MM offered me.

If I'm honest I prefer the idea of eBay but wouldn't have a clue where to start with posting on there, pricing, postage etc!

They do really rip you off. My DDs have been selling unwanted stuff on Facebook local recently. No postage, collection only. I used the music magpie app to check how much they would offer for DS games. It was useful to indicate to me which ones were more valuable second hand.

I've been thinking of doing this too, I have loads of videos too, is there a market for them?

I did a car boot and charged £1 each for CDs and DVDs- made so much more than MM offered me.

Total rip off. You'll do better selling on eBay.

Music Magpie is owned by that's entertainment. They resell in their shops.

I spend ages putting in about 45 CDs, several were rejected outright as not worth selling. I was offered £13.21 for the 38 CDs they did consider worth selling (to be taken off if any were broken on arrival).

The 'welcome pack' and 'free labels' were only free to them - I had to pay for printing them at home. The packing policy was extensive and I spent ages packing all the CDs to their specification (again, all packing materials etc. at my expense). All that done, I contacted them again online and they couldn't tell me when they could pick the package up. I gave up at that point.

I wasted about 3 hours of my life doing all that that I can't get back. I eventually took the whole package down to the charity shop who were happy to have it! MM still send me e-mails 6 months later asking whether I've changed my mind about sending the CDs despite the fact that I've sent several saying 'yes!' in various, increasingly frustrated, ways

In my experience Music Magpie is a rip off and I'd steer clear.
