Don't know if this is if interest but the Tesco finest gammon joints are half price at the moment. £5 for 2-2.5kg and I've fed the four of us today and I have enough ham left for two other meals. Thought 3 meals worth of meat for a fiver was quite good value.

Can you believe I've just sold my 8 year old Miele vacuum cleaner for £25 on eBay! It's hardly a fortune, but it's the most I've got for a single item, since I started selling in August. How weird is that!

£3 spending total for today, on a bottle of water and bus fares for me and DS.

That is a good price for meat. This is why dh us against chest freezers, he knows I'll have 3 months worth if food in there.

I realised today I can flog my kenwood chef, another m netter has first dibs then it's fleabay!.

Back from a bargainous evening out - £3 for the cinema thanks to Groupon (paid a while back, so nothing to pay today) plus £2.50 for parking. We had to go to the Odeon, as that is where the voucher was for, and since MrEconomy doesn't cycle, it was either car or bus into town rather than free parking at the out-of-town Vue.

Oh, I made £5 on a maternity dress on ebay today. Really thought it would have gone for more, but better than nothing.

Did you smuggle sweets in ? dh smuggled wine in once and clinked the bottle on the floor. I died of embarrassment.

Have made £65.00 on Ebay in the last week - it's all made up of bits and bobs: t-shirts, dvd's, cd's etc. Still, it's money in rather than money out and it makes space in the house.

Have gone over budget with various bits and bobs this last couple of weeks which we can ill afford, so I have decided to cut right back and think we can survive on what's in the cupboards/freezers for a bit, plus tank is full of petrol! So going to see how long I can go with spending next to nothing!

One of the dogs is at the vet's, so that's more money- no such thing as pet insurance over here. Today we went out to get bits for school customes, art day this time, and ended up eating out due to bad timing. So,

£2 on roads
£18 on clothes
£20 on food

Yesterday was an NSD and tomorrow it should just be roads for school run. I shall spend the morning rifling through cupboards and the freezer and meal planning.

Adora, you are never wealthy with a pet!! I adore dogs and wish we had one. We had one a while back who sadly had to be put down. DS was devastated (as was I) and he has begged for another one ever since but it is SOOOOOOOOOOOO expensive. What with buying the puppy in the first place to all the gear needed, food and vets bills plus insurance!!!! It will have to wait for a while I am afraid. .

Today will be a tiny bit spendy but it is factored in - Ebay posting to be done so, in effect, free for me as buyers have already paid for it. I will have two bus fares to pay for - on Oyster that will be £1.35 each way so not too bad. Going to DMum at luonchtime as it was her birthday...so might get a free coffee and bun????? [smile}

Other than that I don't foresee any extra spending...we shall see .........

For our pets, we set up a savings account and put a set amount (£10 per cat) aside each month. This meant that we had cash if they needed emergency vet treatment and weren't at the mercy of the insurance company. They didn't ever need this, but it paid for routine jabs/worming/flea etc, and also for the cattery once a year or so.

Saved over £22 a month by switching BT landline, Plusnet Broadband and Sky TV to one package with Virgin Media for when we move. Got an extra TiVo box too on a sky switcher deal AND for the first six months I'm paying half price so I'm saving another £25 a month on top until the middle of next year. The total saving over the next year will be about £450!

I also discovered I can get 6% cash back on rail fares booked through Southern Railways so planning to register for top cash back now. Not sure if will apply for DH's season ticket but we'll use it for trips to London and the like. Southern sell tickets for all other services and they can be collected at any mainline railway station so it might be of use to other people too.

I paid BT in advance too but I want us to switch.

We have 40GB which we exceed quite often, I pay the £13BB charge (they discounted it when we moved) and dh pays the excess use charge.

He's getting fed up with it so is now edging towards switching.

BT want £80 to cancel the contract which is a bit much this near to Christmas.

Adora I was discussing travel ideas with my DH (when this bloody house sells) and I said to him that I wanted to "go to places that no one sees in a tourist brochure like Guatemala and Chile"! I have got a bit of a thing about South America and Japan. That's one reason why we're economising!

£5.80 on travel , £9.85 in Lidl, £6.36 in the Co-op and £12.32 in Tesco. Only have to get bread, milk and kitchen roll during the week now.

Today was just the Aldi shop - £28 something. They were out of bread flour, so I'll have to pop back during the week for that.

Well I've just worked out that with the over use fees etc we are spending £38 a month on BB and phone line rental. Phones not even plugged in.

I had it plugged in but people called me on it and I could NOT be doing with it at all.

Topcashbacks offering £85 for sky deals so I am going to ring them tomorrow and ask how much to cancel. Should be interesting.

Spent £19.70 on postal charges for Ebay stuff so although a spend it is cancelled out by the buyers having paid for it.

Two oyster bus journeys -£2.70 in total. Took snack and drink for DS from home so no spend at the local sweet shop .

Have 3 more Ebay items to send out tomorrow so will 'spend' there and will have another 2 bus journeys to meet DS and back home.

Anticipate a small spend on sugar paste on Wednesday ... a friend is teaching me how to make sugar flowers in return for me teaching her how to knit .

Helena it is a wonderful place to visit. Outside of the cities it's cheaper, but tolls still apply on motorways. Costs have risen greatly over the last 10 years, the economy is currently booming, in addition to all the rises in general food prices. And good medical care is expensive, insurance is essential. But it's a beautiful country.
