Best way to sell DVDs?

Has anyone used one of those companies that buys bulk lots of DVDs? How much hassle are they? Is it worth it?

I saw someone sell them on a TV programme and they seemed to get a bit of cash for them, but they sold loads and I think we're specialist?

Or are we better off selling them at 50p each at a car boot sale? (I don't imagine it's a good summer for car booting, with no one having any money and the weather being so bad, am I right?).

We've got tons of them and I know we wouldn't get much for them, but we never watch them, apart from the kids' ones and a few of the newer Blu-Rays, and it would at least free up some space and give us some money to pay for a treat for the DCs.

TIA!

It will take you forever.

I considered this, so I started scanning/putting barcodes in etc. I never got more than 60p for a DVD. They also had to be in brilliant condition.

In the end, i did a few bundles and put them on Ebay. I got a good amount for them (much more than i would have got) . I had a few buyers from B&B's, schools (for the kid ones) etc.

Carboot would be good too I imagine. 50p per DVD sounds quite cheap so I think you would have plenty of buyer :)

I agree, Ebay or carboot is much better, you'll get lots more cash in the end and they don't have to be in mint condition.

If you've got a CEX near you they offer the best price for most things (better than, for example Music Magpie).

Car Boot is a great idea!

Thanks everyone! Sounds like a car boot's in order, if the weather perks up.

We want to get to a point where we own very few DVDs and just rent films online. It makes sense to ditch the DVDs whilst they still have some slight value, and whilst people still have DVD players!

I don't think I can part with my beloved Book or CD collections though.

Hi
You can get £1 to £2 for a DVD at a carboot sale. If you have a latest release you might get around £4. On ebay many DVDs are usually priced at 99p starting bid, but often go for quite a bit more.

I'm an avid second-hand DVD buyer. I couldn't part with my beloved DVD collection. If I was a seller I would list them all on ebay first at 99p starting bid and anything that doesn't sell I'd put in a carboot sale at £1. At the end of the day reduce the final few to 75p or 50p if you really want to get rid of them.

if you join the Zapper website you can key in the barcodes and they will buy some for anything from 30p to 2.50 I found.

We've just sold some through CeX. Much better prices than Music Magpie.
