I'm about to go on maternity leave and am checking the refund policy on my annual railway season ticket - I didn't realise I was pregnant when I bought it, and I've just realised that they don't refund you pro-rata - they refund the difference between what you would have spent if you hadn't benefitted from a season ticket. So I am due a refund of £600 ish and will still owe my work an extra £600 ish on top of that in order to repay my season ticket loan.
I am absolutely gutted. I can see why they do it this way, but £600 is a humungous amount for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've had a good look on their website but it's not very helpful. Can I sell it on? Transfer it to my husband (who travels the same route)? Can I suspend it for the year of my maternity leave? Anyone got any advice?
Thanks in advance.
