In your opinion? Got to start budget shopping, the weekly shop depresses me no end and we seem to be forever broke so off to Lidl or Aldi tomorrow but want to go to the 'best' one so it doesn't put me off!

Fanks! Smile

I'm a massive Aldi fan...we save considerably each week when we go there compared to when we shopped elsewhere. Smile

I have Aldi and Lidl near to me, I use both as they are good for different things. I love Lidl fruit and veg, it's cheap and seems to be much better quality than Aldi. Aldi is good for cheeses, cooked meats and their toiletries are great value.

I also pack at the checkout, I'm super fast so haven't had any complaints as yet. I use large Ikea shopping bags and throw the food in to a certain bag depending on whether it's fresh, frozen or tines etc. I never spend more than £80 for 4 of us.

It's a bit strange at first as you don't recognise the brands but after a few shops you get used to it and know whats worth buying. I still do the odd big shop at Asda every 6 weeks or so to really stock up but I steer clear of Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsburys.

I have Lidl within a mile but drive 7 miles to the nearest Aldi because I like it better

I've just started a new thread in this topic - spent £50 in Aldi today (mostly fresh stuff) & when I priced it all up on mysupermarket.com the equivalents ranged from £71 at Asda to £90 at Waitrose (Morrisons not included so I don't now how they'd compare)

I think the trick with Aldi and Lidl is to shop according to what they have rather than trying to convert the whole weekly shop and possibly not find absolutely everything you are used to. Plus you make some exciting new discoveries. Grin
