As the title reads how much do you spend on your hair and how often do you have it coloured/cut etc?

My lovely mobile girl has been today and charges me £35 for a colour and cut and she is a fab colourist. She used to be the top girl at a salon but got fed up with the low pay and long hours. She cuts DD's hair for free, so I give her an extra £5 for petrol.

About £40 for cut only once or twice a year with senior stylist or director.
I have very long naturally blonde hair and tend to just have it neatened up and shaped, wouldn't dare colour it.
Pay more for somebody I trust as I'm a bit paranoid after a bad cut many years back.

fluffy123 · 13/01/2012 11:26

I get mine cut 3 times a year at £40 a time and coloured once or twice a year at £25. I have been growing my hair for 2 years. I used to spend more when I had a bob as couldn't go longer than 2 months without a cut. I always buy my shampoo and conditioner when it is buy one get one free so pretty low maintenance really.

TheSurgeonsMate · 13/01/2012 11:33

I get mine cut about once a year. I'm getting it done on Monday, as well as dd's first cut. Smile I have to admit I find it hard to remember how much I paid a year ago, but I'd be comfortable paying somewhere between £30/£40.

StaceymAloneForver · 13/01/2012 11:33

I pay a mobile hairdresser £14 to have my hair cut (and she's brill with it) every 3 months or so, and then do my own colour, at £5 a go prob around every 2 months. So under £90 a year :)

Slightlytinsellyexpat · 13/01/2012 11:34

£8 every five weeks for a dry trim.

CMOTDibbler · 13/01/2012 11:36

£17 for a cut every 8 weeks or so by a mobile hairdresser. I don't colour anymore and am grey and proud

TimeWasting · 13/01/2012 21:44

£0 (apart from shampoo and conditioner)

Sometimes I cut it, sometimes I get my Aunt to do it. Usually end up letting it grow out in between.
I'm considering dying it again, the greys are particularly standing out of late, but I simply look my age and there's nothing wrong with that realy.

emmaj1045 · 14/01/2012 22:08

18 months since my last cut Shock hadn't realised I had become a slummy mummy until now.

duchesse · 15/01/2012 12:12

Approx 40 euros every 6-12 months on a good haircut in France that lasts. I've never found a hairdresser in the UK who can cut as well as the ones in France and for the cut to last that long.

StellaAndFries · 15/01/2012 12:27

I get my hair cut every 6 weeks or so. Costs me £5 as my friend is a hairdresser, she trims my fringe 3 weekly for free. Hair colour is £1 from Poundland and I need 2 boxes, she puts that on for free.

Haziedoll · 15/01/2012 12:31

Too much. I'm trying to gradually get back to my natural colour because I can't afford the upkeep of highlights. If I added up what I have spent over the last 16 years I dread to think what it would amount to.

letthembe · 15/01/2012 12:32

I get mine coloured, cut and styled every 6 weeks - about £70 a time. I sometimes pay more for a few extra treatments.

azazello · 15/01/2012 12:34

I found an amazing mobile hairdresser who cuts my hair better than the local salons I've tried. It costs £36 every 6 weeks but that is for me, DD, DH and DS.

I don't colour my hair, too much of a faff and I'm not bothered about being platinum blonde anymore!

mamalovesmojitos · 15/01/2012 12:36

I spend about £20 on cut maybe twice a year.

south345 · 15/01/2012 12:36

£15 for wet cut, blow dry and straighten. About every 6 weeks at the moment.

£40 for full head highlights, cut blow dry and straighten but I last got it coloured about 6 months ago, can't wait til next sat to get it coloured again.

Kellogg · 15/01/2012 14:59

Cut and colour every six weeks is the aim this year, I let it slide last year. I send a fair bit on shampoo and conditioner. So £100 every six weekish.

higgle · 15/01/2012 15:10

Mine is on a rolling cycle of cuts every 6 weeks, with highlights every other trip, T section one trip followed by a full head the next time. Just cut/ T/ Just cut/full head IYSWIM. It scosts £102 for cut and full head, and just under £40 for a cut, so I budget £55 per month.

TopazMortmain · 15/01/2012 15:13

250 for highlights every two months... Hair is very important to my sense of self worth, sadly Blush

Cut every six months

ByTheSea · 15/01/2012 15:15

In my younger days, I used to have it highlighted and cut at an expensive Salon and use very expensive products (usually Aveda).

Then I was a SAHM for several years and changed my habits. Now I am earning fairly well again, but am maintaining my frugal hair habits.

Cut every other month for about £25
DH does my colour at home every six weeks - L'Oreal Excellence 2 for £10
TreSemme shampoo and conditioner, Boots curl creme - cheap!

inmysparetime · 15/01/2012 19:41

Wow, people spend loads on hair stuff!
I spend about £20 every 2 years (although the price has a habit of going up between cuts)
The benefit of having boring hair is that there's just no point spending time or money on it, it will do what it was going to do anyway.
