have just been reading posts from people dreading xmas and i thought, there must be loads of people out there with stuff they could give away or swap

i dont mean the xmas appeal, thats brilliant, i mean a more direct "I need toys for a 18 month old girl" "I have clothes for a newborn", that sort of thing, where its not annonymous and poeple can be direct

is this a crap idea?

i just feel we could all help each other out a bit more, so many of us are or already have lost jobs and are struggling, but probably have a house full of kids stuff they no longer need?

I think it's a great idea. I am surprised nobody has responded.
What recession?
;)

I think this would be a fab idea all year round.

No-one else?

I think so too. I guess the concern would be in the different levels of quality but if there are clear guidelines it could work. I always have a pile of things we've been given that are no use, so completely new and have been thinking how this could work for a while now.
Maybe everything would be labelled 1-10 and you could swap like for like or swap 2 things labelled a 5 for a '10' piece etc...if you don't have things to swap, each number could have a monetary value against it. Might be a bit of up front organising!
Anyway, needless to say, yes, good idea!

Very good idea!
