Boots Advantage card points - how can I make best use?

OK, so, I get 10 points for every £1 spent, because of m&b club. Now I had a cunning plan - buy a car seat (and other baby stuff) on boots.com, earning a huge amount of points; between everything, I would have enough points to buy the isofix base for it (I would have over £100).

But...I can't spend the points online apparently! Which means I get free toothpaste for life, or a 5 year supply of tights, or whatever - but can't use the points to actually save myself money in the proper sense (in my head).

Any ideas?? How can I get around this, or should I just not bother with Boots Advantage Card in any active way?

This may not be BEST use of points, but like you say, there are limitations on what you can do with them....I particularly like Coco Channel, and locally it is difficult to get the matching body lotion, bath stuff etc, and of course it costs a lot, so I tend to save points for these treats, which I probably couldn't justify spending Real Money on at the moment! I always use loyalty schemes, cos its Summat for Nowt!(I'm a northern bird btw).

do you have big boots stores that stock it?

I have been to some that sell pushchairs and stuff...
if not then go and see what you can buy at a big boots and spend points on those bigger things instead

DewinDoeth · 02/03/2011 20:06

Maybe a call to the helpline might bring solutions - like knowing where the big stores are.
Otherwise I'll buy my carseat elsewhere! Surely they could try to be a bit more accommodating!

I am sure I've read somewhere that you can order things that are boots online in a store and are allowed to use your points on them that way.

Or you could have free toothpaste for life Grin

DewinDoeth · 03/03/2011 10:54

Miranda that's the kind of scam alternative option I was thinking of. Will go and read T&C, and see what can be done!

better to buy all the toothpaste at once and have storage problems or buy as and when needed...?

Thanks all!

Well unless you are using washables, £100 spent on nappies would not go all that far? And you can get them even in the small stores.

Also the middle-sized stores will probably have stuff like baby bedding and clothes even if they don't have the really big things like carseats. They sometimes have some very nice clothes!

DewinDoeth · 03/03/2011 10:59

I just rang up to check. Going into the store, ordering an online item there = pay with points; it's a totally acceptable way around not being able to use points online, and avoids toothpaste for life.

Oh I am glad my scam plan will work :)

Inigo we x-posted.
I'm using washables (from last time, it's all about the credit crunch here Smile) but you're right, I had forgotten, the clothes in Boots are often really nice. Some of my favourite things for DS have been from Boots. Good quality too. It's getting a store with a decent range, though...
