all the info if you google census jobs; it's eve and weekend work from april to june, mainly chasing up people who don't send back their census form. local and pay ok i think. fairly flexible. i'm always looking for little earners like this.....

Telephone interview so easy; they just ask for exmaples when you ahd to wrok with a group, with the public- that sort of thing.

hi all,

I did the siftability test for collector and enumerator, then the telephone interviews for both. Got rejected for enumerator, heard nothing for collector, until last Friday night. Yes that's right the start of half-term. I received 3 emails all demanding that I do something within 2 days, 3 days etc. I've ignored it - I told them I would be away over half-term. I am so UNimpressed.

I was concerned about my safety and it really got poo-pooed at the "interview". I haven't decided yet whether I am going to phone up or not. They are offering the lowest rate of pay and I live in Kent which must one of the most expensive parts of the country to live in. Who is getting the top rate?

It seems such a pity really that Capita are getting taz-payers money to stuff up!

I did my interview yesterday. Young man in a call centre with lots of background noise. One of the questions was 'How do you ensure working with people in an inclusive way?' to which my answer was 'erm... well...' The rest seemed to be mostly about my availability, but in a very general way, ie. would you be able to work weekends and evenings over three weeks? Er... yes... probably, but which three weeks?

I'm also in the south east (Sussex) where they are offering the lowest pay rate, too.

So, Samels, after the interview there was no actual job offer? Just a big silence and then an expectation that you turn up for work at short notice?

delilahbelle · 26/02/2011 19:59

I got all the way through with this... But then they wanted me to attend a training half day. One a five hr journey away and one a three hour journey away.

Needless to say I didn't bother. It would have been a second job for me, and not enough extra money to be worth it.

woollyideas · 26/02/2011 21:34

They mentioned a training day to me too. I just assumed it would be local. I can't see me travelling three hours to do that either. Were they planning to pay for time and travelling expenses?

androbbob · 26/02/2011 21:48

I did the siftability test and failed - no reason why as I am educated, work as a professional and work for one of Capita's arms! I was a bit miffed to say the least as I was only applying for the basic job. Perhaps there were too many part timers applying in my area?

littleducks · 26/02/2011 22:20

I am waiting to hear too, seems to be cutting it a bit fine timing wise if they are going to call in references and do the training mentioned Hmm

woollyideas · 26/02/2011 22:43

I thought the siftability test was quite difficult because often the answers weren't clear cut - often a case of 'none of the above' (which of course wasn't an option!)

Keep us informed littleducks

I've done the siftability test, telephone interview, references and last weekend did the online training and test and passed.

I'm waiting to hear the exact information about the half days training, we so need the money so will have to sort something out with the kids!
