Diarrhea

i tested positive for Covid on the 3rd December, minimal respiratory symptoms, slight fever and aches for a couple of days. Appetite was fine and no other gastro symptoms. Thought I’d got away with a mild dose however on day 4 started feeling nauseous and had the worst wind I’ve ever had in my life for the next 3 days. These symptoms resolved and then I started to have explosive diarrhoea. Tested negative on 11th December and the only symptoms I’m left with is the diarrhoea still going 9 days later,
Has anyone else experienced this and if so how long did it last? I have spoken to my gp who says this is normal after any virus that affects your gut and to ride it out but I suffer from health anxiety and I’m now starting to feel really anxious about it. Appreciate any support and advice

Pro biotic tablets from Holland and Barrett? And also cut out dairy for a few days as often the gut can become intolerant for a short while after a bug.
the people around me who have had similar definitely felt better by the end of week 3 and the gut stuff lasted around 5 days but lessened after 3/4…

There is a diarrhea bug doing the rounds that is as you describe. The 2 cases I know of have been resolved by time, plenty of hand washing and fluids. One in a week and the other will be sometime next year as It gets them out of doing anything.( Comes in waves apparently.... feeling better when they want to go out and debilitating when there are responsibilities to attend to) It is really contagious stay away from everyone and wash your hands more than the usual after the loo and before food times.
