Hi, I had a bad dose of covid beginning of July, was in bed for a week full flu like symptoms. Was a lot better a few weeks latter.
Last week I took myself off to the doctors as my chest was tight and still coughing up flem and generally not feeling well, also occasionally being sick. Doc said my chest sounded crackly and I had a mild temperature so she gave me antibiotics. I've been struggling with my appetite and eating and being sick still. Finished the antibiotics at the weekend so took myself back to the doctors as didn't feel much better. They have given me a second course.

Doc said coughs can last six weeks, well it's been bloody six weeks. It's not any better, and I feel sick a lot of the time even if I haven't eaten much. Like a peace of toast 😌. Anyone else had this drag on after having covid, I just want it to get better.

They did send me for an x-ray that was clear.

I had exactly this but in Jan after covid. 2 lots of antibios and a chest x ray. It took 8 weeks for me to feel better (it happened quite quickly once it started, went from feeling shit to fine over the course of a week!) and slightly longer for the cough to go completely, but it wasn't troublesome by that point, it was just occasional bouts. Hang on in there!!! But do go back to GP if your temp comes back!!

@ShatParp thanks you've given me hope, I've had other health problems recently and the last thing I need is this really.

@MigGril I think that definitely makes a difference. I'd had various health probs at the tail end of the year and then a different respiratory virus before covid and I think if you're run down and weakened it'll nobble you!
I felt like I was never going to feel normal again and I was amazed when in the space of a week I was ok!! I'm keeping everything crossed for you that the same thing happens!
I've got to say it made me a bit wary of catching anything at all though so I was extra careful for quite some time, which I think helped!

Yes ! DS 17 had what I now suspect was mild Covid probably a month or so ago (hay fever like symptoms). Has now had a cough for the last 3 - 4 weeks. Said his phlegm was yellow yesterday so ended up getting some antibiotics. I’m seriously thinking about getting a private covid vaccine, know so many people floored by it 🤔

We all got covid awhile back.. Mine lasted just over 2 months as did my youngest (who tested negative).. We were bedridden. Couldn’t move, eat, drink or stay awake.. Paramedics were called several times.. I ended up with long covid.. It lasted 6 months ontop of the two months.. I couldn’t walk even a few metres as I would start coughing uncontrollably.. I couldn’t even walk into my child’s school.. I was coughing day and night.. I slept on the couch just so everyone could sleep and not be woken by my coughing.. I was making gurgling sounds when I would exhale. It was horrendous. I couldn’t even hold a conversation without coughing nonstop. So glad it’s over, I thought it would never end..
