Just tested positive for COVID antibodies, how long ago could I have had COVID?

Can't find a much info online so grateful of any input.

Only time I know I had COVID in is March 2023. I do still test occasionally as I have immunosuppressed relative.

3 weeks ago felt terrible, same as when I had COVID last year. Tested twice and both negative but this was a week after symptoms started.

Got an antigen test as still felt crap, achy all over and totally exhausted and I wanted to rule out Covid before I saw a Dr.

It was positive. Does this make it likely it was COVID 3 weeks ago? Guessing my 2023 infection would be long gone? Thanks!!

Hard to say. I tested positive for antibodies for about a year but it was progressively weaker as time went on. Was it strongly positive? If yes then more likely it was recent. It takes 3 weeks for antibodies to ‘peak’ I think.

Thanks *popsickle555 *

Dunno how strong it was as was a Monitor My Health one that just said positive.

It would have been 3 weeks ago I had it.

Sounds unlikely it was from March last year

I think the understanding at the moment is they last approx 8 months. I had it at Xmas quite badly and I have been around it a lot this summer (my daughter and others) and not caught it which makes sense but I guess by Autumn I am likely vulnerable again! Obviously there are different strains etc so nobody really knows. I also don't trust the LFT anyway - we had negative and positive in the same house at the same time!

When you say an antigen test, what do you mean? Are you in Australia? (I think what people in the UK call LFTs are called rapid antigen tests there, that's why I ask)

Do you mean antigen or antibody? Antigen is LFT as pp said.

Sorry sorry, antibody test. The one where you send off a blood sample.

Can be showing antibodies for many months afterwards. I had them elevated for a year!
