What to eat when you have zero appetite?

Haven’t tested positive yet but strongly suspect Covid. Would I get better more quickly if I could eat? In the last few days I’ve only had a banana and some yogurt and they took ages to eat.

Tomato soup.
Synonymous with being ill in our house.

As a rule, eating does make you feel a bit better if you're in massive calorie deficit. But after surgery once when I just felt terrible, couldn't eat etc - I called my doctor who told me to drink a can of coke. He said I needed some calories, and it didn't matter how I ot them, and that would then make me start feeling better. He was right. And after that can of coke, I slowly started eating proper food again.

If you don't want coke, some fruit juice (watered down is probably easier) is a good choice. You want a quick hit to help jumpstart things.

Toast and peanut butter or marmite are standard feeling ill foods around here. Eggs once we're feeling a bit better. I like a casserole myself but that could just be me!

Soup. Either home made if you can be bothered, or supermarket 'fresh', such as chicken and vegetable in the fridge section.

Heinz tomato soup. It’s sweet and comforting..with white bread. Or homemade chicken soup….

As the pp said, a can of coke is a good start for the calories. If you're feeling nauseous, a glass of flat coke is better.
Food wise, start with simple items that have a high water content - tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce etc. Obviously there isn't many calories to them, but it's a start. Would also recommend coconut water to stay hydrated and to get some vitamins and electrolytes in you.

Thanks all 🫶 Covent Garden chicken soup with some toasted white bread with olive oil and Parmesan was just the thing. It’s so unlike me to be ill enough to lose my appetite!

Just tested positive, I knew something highly unusual was happening!
