Very obvious positive test two hours out of time frame?

I know it’s seen as incredibly unnecessary by some to test these days but I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant and my MIL is undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer so when I started to feel ill and we’d planned to see her I just wanted to make sure.

Anyway.. last week my 15 month old started to come down with something, he was sick about 6 times over the course of 3 days, snotty nose, tiny bit of a cough and just generally he seemed absolutely exhausted, he also went right off all types of food.

3 days after he started to seem ill I came down with the same runny nose and also had a sore throat. That same night I randomly out of nowhere projectile vomited so bad, the worst episode of vomiting I’ve ever had. Ever since then (so 3 days on) I’ve been nauseous and desperately trying to keep food down.

Of course I’m pregnant so a part of me thought fantastic, morning sickness is back. Because of reasons mentioned above I decide to test after some people told me vomiting is a common covid symptoms these days. I checked after 20-25 mins and couldn’t really see anything so decided there and then it must be negative. Anyway I’ve checked two hours later and it’s totally positive no doubt about it.

What I’m asking is.. is it valid? I will be taking another to be sure, I’ve taken a few tests over the last four years and left it hanging around on the side for hours, sometimes even the end of the day and never had one turn even faintly positive.

This happened to a colleague of mine. He tested at home and it was negative in the time frame then left it out and his wife phoned him 2 hours later to say it was now positive. He did another one there and then and it was positive too so if you feel you need to then I would do another test. (This was when tests were free)

I imagine it's a valid positive. Even if it were not covid you wouldn't want to infect your vulnerable MIL so I would test again and if negative just keep away from her until you recover.

I know many people are anti testing but covid is still a problem for certain people. I'm currently pretty unwell with covid as I have a weak immune system and a lung disorder.

If I was pregnant, I'd certainly want to know as covid has been causing many issues with the placenta and oxygen/nutrient supply to baby, as well as eclampsia and unfortunate outcomes.
