Hiya guys, after advice, I have COVID and pregnant so not been a fun few days but luckily vaccinated so not been too bad however, 3 year old had woken up coughing now...

Firstly would you test them as I know the government guidelines are now it's just a "virus" and you don't have too?

Secondly would you keep them from nursery, she has been off for the past 3 weeks and so excited about going on Monday!

Thank you in advance

Yes test her and yes keep her home. You have no idea who might be vulnerable in the nursery network. A few days at home won't impact her at all and she will probably recover quicker if she has some extra rest.

I wouldn't test her, no. I would see how she is and send her back when she is better.

Thanks guys, my husband decided to test her this morning and negative so just a nasty cold!

Don't send her to nursery, whether it's covid or not. What's just a cold to your child can be an ICU admission to others.

If you tested just with a nasal swab there's every reason to believe it still could be COVID given her exposure to you, even with a negative result.

It doesn't matter what the virus is called. If someone is vulnerable even a cold could mean a hospital admission. Why do people STILL think Covid is special?

You have covid and they are symptomatic so it’s almost certainly just not showing up on the test. I’d keep off and try to prevent passing it on.

Surely the test has made no difference to what happens next, so pointless doing it?

You can't send her to nursery with a nasty cold
