Hiya, I would say baby Calpol and monitor the temperature and if you don't think he is getting better ring 111 and seek advice, hope they feel better soon

If you are BF then there might be antibodies in the milk that could help him, so keep feeding him, that's good for fluids too. Look after yourself too.

Hi OP. My 9 month old is just getting over Covid - we have all gone down with it this week. She has probably coped the best out of all of us. We had 48 hours of a high temp (was up to 40.5°c though which wasn't nice) and heavy cold symptoms. We alternated calpol and nurofen and I fed her lots (she's breastfed but fluid is the important part). She is 6 days down the line now and is a bit snotty, tired and has a dry cough which catches sometimes but otherwise eating and drinking and playing fine. Recommendations are to keep an eye on fluids in and wet nappies, watch her work of breathing (check baby not pulling in under the ribs too hard when they're breathing), and if you worried just get baby checked by GP. It's so worrying when they're tiny but my little one has definitely got off the lightest out of all of us, I've been rough and my nearly 5 year old is completely wiped out with no appetite etc. hopefully you are feeling ok yourself!

Thank you we're still up it's been a rough night he's absolutely exhausted but he's not settling I think he's just uncomfortable I've brought him in bed seems to be making him feel better,
Just feel so sorry for him and slightly guilty as he got it from me.

Oh, I know how you feel - the guilt!! It's horrible but they will be bringing you plenty of bugs home in the future to repay you! It breaks my heart a bit every time one of my children are ill 😭

Honestly, lots of cuddles, let him sleep when he needs it, be prepared for a few broken nights and at least now he has it you don't need to worry about trying to stop him from catching it. I'm sure he will recover quickly!

Also to add things that helped:

Saline nose spray/drops: DD hates them but helped her to feed comfortably and helped her to sleep.

Snot sucker: used after nose spray as it loosens the snot and makes it easier to suck out. (gross)

Snuffle babe ointment: rub onto soles of feet and chest or back, helps sooth and decongest

Calpol vapour plug in: used overnight in bedroom

Humidifier/steamer: especially useful now her cough is drier and tickly, helps keeps airways moist and stops the constant coughing. Also helped to keep her a bit cooler when she had a temperature.

We also put baby to bed in a 1 tog sleeping bag instead of her usual 2.5 tog because she was spiking temps through the night and didn't want her to get any hotter.

Hope some of that helps!
