Has anyone had ongoing nausea with covid and if so how long did it last? I am on day 7 and although most symptoms have cleared up I still have the nausea.

Mine lasted for a week after testing negative, felt same as morning sickness.
But mid 50s, so not a chance lol.
Also had indigestion with covid and 5/6 weeks still there, but not as bad.
Just working out what I can ear, plus smaller portions. Weird being so negative about eating. Chest feels tight sometimes, went xmas shopping yesterday with my daughter to help her get presents finished off.
Do you have any symptoms apart from nausea??

BaileysAllRound · 16/12/2023 21:40

Not me but a neighbour of mine did. She had intermittent vomiting after covid, I'm afraid hers lasted a couple of months. It did eventually go though

Still feel generally weak and just off, hard to put a finger on it. Food smells funny and I don't have much appetite. I agree that it feels like morning sickness - I am late fifties so definitely not! First time I have had covid and it knocked me for six.

I had nausea and dizziness when I had covid last year and I found travel sickness tablets really helped (Stugeron)

TeaWithASplashOfMilk · 19/12/2023 13:33

I didn't have nausea until a few weeks after a covid infection. I've had it about 21 months - for me, breathlessness makes it worse. Are you breathless? It feels like morning sickness.

Sorry to hear that you have had it for 21 months. Yes it does feel like morning sickness. I don't feel breathless as such but I feel I have heart palpitations/missing a beat which doesn't help.

So glad to find this thread. I have had a sore throat and runny nose and headache (the usual) but the nausea is something I’ve never had with COVID before. It does feel very much like morning sickness. Is really draining!

I’m on day 11 and it has subsided quite a bit so hang on in there.

I got covid march 2020 which led to long covid which lasted about 18 months, the nausea lasted for 4 months and other gastric issues. It was just like pregnancy sickness. Hope your better soon💐

iwanttoscream · 21/12/2023 07:43

Moss stitch did you have indigestion pain.
What were your gastric issues. I feel I have gastric issues, did your nausea come back some days after the 4 months.
6 weeks since our house had covid, me a couple more days than the others.
Only wished I hadn't forgotten my face mask on the 3rd November. Pretty sure that was the day I caught it for sure..😪

TeaWithASplashOfMilk · 21/12/2023 14:47

Forgot to say ginger chewing gum has helped alleviate it a bit for some.

Careerpanic · 27/12/2023 11:25

Oh goodness. Came to this board to see if this was a thing - gutted to see that it is!
Tested positive on 19th and had it pretty bad. Taste gone, smell gone although I feel like I can smell a horrible 'greasy' smell like hot oil that's catching in the oven.

Tests are now negative but feeling so queasy and off my food. Vomited last night, slept hours but have worked up headache and nauseous still. It's impossible to have any fun as the lingering background feeling is ruining everything 😩

Mossstitch · 31/12/2023 22:55

@iwanttoscream afraid I did, I had every symptom listed in the possible symptoms at the time. I had heartburn, acid reflux type symptoms when I've never suffered with indigestion in my life, diarrhoea, nausea (all lasted over 4 months), breathlessness, sinus pain and allergy type symptoms plus the extreme fatigue. Any exertion led to really bad headaches especially bad when i returned to very part time work (NHS hospital) a year later. Even now I try to only do one day then a day off (Bank shifts as old so I can afford to do this as taken NHS pension already).

It did finally mostly go though so don't worry, I employed pacing strategies and pushed myself to walk a tiny bit more every third day until my breathing/energy levels improved after about 10 months.

If its any consolation wearing a mask wouldn't have saved you, it might have helped if the person that gave it to you had worn one but they don't protect you from getting it unless proper fit tested PPE (which we didn't have the middle of March when I caught it off a patient🙄).

I've got this!

Tested positive 20 December and initially fine, just a cold, bit tired but the husband headed off to see the Inlaws with the kids once they were all clear. Lovely jubbly I thought, it's just me, masses of chocolate, panettone, left over plum pudding and specialty creams, gingerbread, you get the idea and 6 bottles of Veuve Cliquot, plus a whole load of fabulous crap on the TV!

Couldn't eat. Couldn't drink. Nibbled on a water cracker. Managed half. WTF?

I have never lost weight over the festive season but thank you Covid, I will be looking fabulously svelt when I return to work on Thursday!

Still got no appetite so I'm off to stare forlornly in the fridge, shrug, and sit down again...

iwanttoscream · 02/01/2024 19:58

I had covid 9th November though possibly the 6th of November if I'd tested.
Got another virus around 9th December which felt like flu.
Them our son came and stayed with us for Christmas and went out with friends and on Christmas eve started a cold. Christmas day said are you sure it's a cold. He said yes, he went home to his girlfriend and her mum and sister. Messaged us at 10pm we needed to test as he had covid. We stayed negative but 3 out of 4 went down with a cold that's hit our chests. Feel like my husband and I have chest infection. Still eating very little, not so much to nausea but indigestion.
Trying to eat 3 small meals a day. My husband is rolling his eyes at my portion.
But he's not the one suffering with indigestion pain, I really disheartened at the moment.

Same with the indigestion and reflux. Pharmacist said it’s not down to Covid but it’s only started since. Feels like my oesophagus is inflamed. Started Nexium today to see if it helps.

@Vinrouge4 you've brought back a memory there that I'd half forgotten (2020 seems a long time ago now) for months I also had that feeling of burning, if you've ever breathed in chilli powder as your cooking it was like that which sounds like what your explaining in your oesophagus. At the time there were ongoing threads on here of lots of people with similar problems/long covid if you have the ability to search in the covid threads there may be some help on there for different medications that might help👍 its definitely too much of a coincidence that a lot of people were complaining of similar symptoms after covid!

I assume it did eventually get better? Did you take anything for it?

OP posts:
Mossstitch · 03/01/2024 20:58

No didn't take anything ( I don't like taking anything unless essential and very over sensitive to everything, only take half doses of even paracetomol and works for me). Only thing I did discover was that I found ibruphren worked better for the headaches rather than paracetamol, I presumed because inflammatory in nature and ibruphren anti-inflammatory. A lot of the post covid symptoms seem to be inflammatory in nature. It did all resolve itself......cold skimmed milk helped a bit.........although I did eat far more haagen das vanilla than I should as soothed the burning feeling (that'smy excuse anyway)
