6th time having Covid

Tr1skel1on · 29/11/2023 22:02

So I've got covid for the 6th time. I work in a primary school with 2 kids in different high schools but I'm still really pissed off.

I feel really ill, I've had every vaccination available to a healthy nearly 50 year old and surely I must have natural immunity due to 5 previous times having it.

What am I doing wrong. No one else I know has had it this many times

Well if you don’t test then you’ve just been unlucky with a few bad cold/coughs. Testing just gives it a name.

BananaSpanner · 29/11/2023 22:07

I say that as someone who is also prone to getting anything cold/cough/chesty frequently and badly. It sucks and is really depressing. Covid wasn’t even the worst one to be honest.

If it helps, I’ve had it 5 times as has my 16 year old Ds and my DD has had it 4 times. My DH however has had it once! All jabbed as much as we can (DH and I both under 50). Seem to get it it now once every 6-7 months…😱

This attitude is exactly why people end up in the OP's situation. Because some people suspect they have might Covid and selfishly go round spreading it anyway rather than doing the decent thing.

Or they just follow the guidance on testing.

How are you turning that into someone selfishly spreading it. I haven't tested .. ot have tested negative for covid. Whichever way, I stay off work and away from people. You are making some big assumptions based on little information to warrant it.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 29/11/2023 22:15

I’ve never had it. Worked in hospital on the wards throughout and had all vaccinations (5 I think now). 2 dc in secondary schools.

we stopped testing as soon as it wasn’t mandatory for school and work.

some people just seem more susceptible but of course you won’t get any more positive results if you don’t do any more tests.

flowerchild2000 · 29/11/2023 22:18

I seem to get every strain! I was vaxed & boosted but gave up, the shots don't work. Some people are more resistant and it doesn't work like other viruses. I have Long Covid so I read up on every new research and no one knows anything basically.

Nothankyou22 · 29/11/2023 22:20

I swear by probiotics I rarely get ill, never would’ve known I had Covid unless I did the antibody test and refused all the vaccines

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 29/11/2023 22:36

Many people will be catching it as often but most don't test.

Tr1skel1on · 29/11/2023 22:39

I work in a primary school, have done for decades, you'd think I would have the best immune system by now and I normally do! I only tested because the second job I have required it. But tbh I felt like shit and knew what the result would be.

I have it at the minute and for me it's a head cold. I'm completely unvaccinated though but vaccinated friends who have had it, have experienced severe illness.
