I’ve felt the same since being ill at the end of September. Didn’t test positive but my daughter was ill at the same time with same symptoms and she was positive. I’ve got asthma so didn’t know if it was that playing up and have been to the GP at least 4 times, had a chest x ray and keep being told I’m ok- when I know jm
not right- like you get out of breath really easily when I wouldn’t usually and have a tight/ heavy feeling on my chest etc. it’s so frustrating!!

I hope they do help you. It’s exhausting isn’t it. I feel like I’ve not had a life for 3 months as I’m just trying to work and then crashing - work is a struggle too but can’t just be off ill all the time. So frustrating and exhausting

Can I ask if either of you have had blood stained mucus?
My x Ray is clear but Dr wants further investigation:(
I'm so utterly fed up

I've had long Covid for over 2 years now and have never had blood stained mucus at any point.

Thank you

If you are post COVID and coughing up blood then get checked out for a potential pulmonary embolism. My husbands didn't show up on x-ray only CT because the clots (all over both his lungs) were too small.

Also if you are short of breath post COVID ask for a peak flow meter from the GP or pharmacist. My peak flow was very low and inhalers did help me with my breathlessness.

You can also get Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia and dysautonomia post COVID which can have breathlessness and fatigue as symptoms. Managing my POTS (see link below) helped with my breathlessness and fatigue.

I have had Long Covid for nearly 3 years, but recovering well and back at work just not full time. GPs should be considering referring to Long COVID clinics after 4 weeks of symptoms (used to be 12 weeks). They should do bloods, a chest x-ray and in some cases an ECG before referral.

Referral criteria from National commissioning
guidance for post COVID services
Version 3, July 2022

Children, young people and adults with ongoing symptoms lasting for four weeks or
more following COVID-19 illness should be considered for referral, particularly if the
following criteria are met:
• severe presentations where symptoms are having a significant impact on normal
activities of daily living, including attendance at work or, for children and young
people, access to education or attendance at school
• non-improving trend
• atypical presentations where further assessment is needed to confirm the
diagnosis/consider alternative diagnoses
• further assessment is needed to confirm safety and appropriateness of either self-
management or supported rehabilitation.

Typically, referral will not be immediate due to the need to rule out alternative diagnoses
and undertake relevant investigations before doing so. People who experience
spontaneous recovery will not require referral.

I've had a chest X Ray, lung ct - all clear
Dr was going to refer me to LC clinic but said waits are months here
So is taking advice and mentioned bronchocope which has freaked me out tbh
It's been 10 weeks since my last covid infection. The cough and wheezing started then

PokeyLaFarge · 02/12/2023 09:19

Am also doing a peak flow chart thing
Can't get over 360 atm

PokeyLaFarge · 02/12/2023 09:19

No mention of inhalers, didn't even listen to my chest at last appointment

I've had this, also 3 months into illness. Blood came from mouth too some days, sinuses, ears and chest are problem areas and gums are swollen too. It's exhausting I feel 99 but also v pissed off!!!

Choconuttolata · 02/12/2023 11:17

Ask for a trial of inhalers and steroids maybe if wheezy? My peak flow was 250 at its worst post-Covid, but the salbutamol and steroid inhaler helped massively.

They should still refer you to LC clinic to get you on the waiting list and then continue to treat/refer for tests in the meantime.
