Hi all, I have my fourth COVID jab next week due to medical conditions, I had COVID once about 18 months ago and luckily all I had was a horrendous headache for about four days. A few days ago I developed a headache and it is searing and not being touched by painkillers, I also feel knackered and have been falling asleep really early for a few nights and then this morning I've got up and had stomach cramps and the shits (sorry for the tmi and phrasing). Is it worth getting a test do you think? I'm a bit worried about having the Jab if I actually have COVID again at the moment, but have no tests left over from last year. Thanks all :)

Just realised I probably sound like an idiot and of course I should buy some tests. Just not sure whether I'm being silly as there's obviously tonnes of other viruses around and I don't have the typical symptoms (and tbh money is extremely tight so if I don't have to spend 15 quid on a pack I'd rather not 😁)

My local said they don't make you wait anymore between having covid and getting the vaccine, but ring the up if you want to be sure.

Oh really?? I wasn't sure how long you had to wait but last time.i was positive for about 9 days, the guidance doesn't seem clear and is different in each place but as my doctor's still don't do face to face appointments (they did my ASTHMA REVIEW over the phone ffs) I will definitely ring up. Thank you

The NHS screening form you complete prior to the current vaccination asks if you've had Covid or Covid symptoms within the last 12 weeks. No idea what happens if you tick Yes though.

HundredMilesAnHour · 04/11/2023 11:35

Last time I was told you had to wait 30 days since testing positive before you should have the vaccine. So I had mine on day 30.

Are they saying that it's ok to go when actively infectious though? So people deemed vulnerable enough to covid to be allowed a vaccine then catch covid from others whilst waiting in premises to get their vaccine?

dudsville · 04/11/2023 20:42

I didn't ask that @NotReadyForAutumnYet, would be worth asking if this is the case for you but I was well at the time of mine. I don't even remember how we got on tothe topic of them not requireing the 4 week wait post covid as that wasn't my situaiton. It would make sense to postpone going into any health facility if actively ill with symptoms simply to keep staff well and protect, as you say, the vulnerable others going in.

Babymamamama · 04/11/2023 20:44

Sounds Covid ish i would buy a test from your chemist just to put your mind to rest. Hope you feel better soon.

OP i had my third jab when I actually had covid (didn't realise until the next day, thought I was just a bit tickly in my throat). I rang my GP as I was concerned and he said it was fine, I would still get the benefits of the jab.

And FWIW, I've been doing my asthma review on the phone for years, I thought that was normal!

@dudsville. Thanks.
