Toddler after Covid

Hello,

My DD is 19 months and last week had Covid (we all did). She's eating slightly better than she was but her favourite meals she's having a couple of mouthfuls and that's it. She was a fantastic eater before Covid. She's also quite irritable as the day goes on and very clingy. She is testing negative so I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this with their children?

Thank you 😊

She's probably still under the weather a bit. Did she vomit with covid at all - it might be that she's associating with her food? Some people find their food tastes different after covid, so what previously tasted good to her might now taste/smell like garbage. Hopefully, it's just the tail end and she'll start to feel back to normal v soon. Let her take it easy if you can, as like adults, if kids rush back before they're ready, it increases risk of long covid.

Hi @hlj0627, my two and a half year old has just got better from covid, and it took a while. She was irritable for around 9 days (although at the start we didn't know it was covid), wouldn't eat much, was very very tired, and very tearful. It really took it out of her. I think you just have to give it time, and plenty of rest where possible. DD watched a lot of peppa pig cuddling me (also infected with covid at the time!) on the sofa.

Thank you for your reply. Yes she was sick once with it right at the start. Hopefully she's back to her usual soon 😊

Thank you for this. My DD started with the sickness two weeks ago and was irritable but didn't realise it was Covid until me and my husband tested positive a few days later. She seems fine in the morning but after her nap in the afternoon that's when she is grizzly, poor thing, then she seems brighter at bed time.

Sorry to hear your little one was the same. I was just worried as you read about cases where they didn't even realise their toddler had Covid as they were fine x
