Just that.
Our family are over from Germany and our 20yo niece has tested positive this morning.
We all had a lot of indoor contact yesterday.

Should we test now or wait?
We have no symptoms.

Concerned as my elderly Mum has COPD.

It's too early to test after only one day. I'm not sure what the most common incubation period is - it used to be any time up to 14 days but I think it's a lot less for recent variants and if you get to 5 or 6 days with no symptoms in anyone you can probably relax a bit.

I unknowingly had covid and came into contact with a family member and sat with them in a car for 8 hours. I'd been feeling unwell for a few days but low level and had a family emergency so wasn't really thinking about how I was feeling and assumed I'd overdone it. He had symptoms by the following day after coming into contact with me. He'd not been out for several weeks prior to seeing me so it was definitely me. It can be anytime up to 14 days though, but I believe current strains are usually less.

DH shared a cab with his sister and BIL for 30 mins - he tested positive 24 hours later
And BIL 48 hours later - SIL also had symptoms but not positive on lateral flow tests

Less than 48 hours! DC started symptoms so we all tested and were positive at that point. My symptoms didn't start for a further 6 hours but testing positive was surprisingly quick after exposure.

If I wasn't clear we were all exposed to the same sick person 48hours previously.
