Hi, sorry you have been poorly 😔 but just to say what you are experiencing is considered a mild illness. You didn't need hospital treatment and you are getting better at home. My DH had it Jan 21 before vaccines offered and was pretty much the same. By day 4 he was back to normal if that offers any reassurance? Hope you feel better soon xx

Chewbaccaslime · 07/07/2023 23:35

I tested positive for it with absolutely no symptoms.

Have to agree that 3 days of bed rest is pretty mild. Considering people were needing to be ventilated in the early days.

DyslexicPoster · 07/07/2023 23:38

Is it your first time? I had it pre vaccine Dec 20 and only knew I had it because I lost all taste and smell. Had it again post vaccine and it was a bit worse. It's a funny virus, but I think the vaccine wears off? I doubt I would have immunity to a new strain. In years to come maybe we will understand why some people get so ill, but people like me ( health conditions, overweight) hardly reacted

Maddy70 · 07/07/2023 23:49

But it is a mild disease now. If you aren't being hospitalised it's a horrible virus

mrsfollowill · 08/07/2023 00:03

I think I have had it again this week- had it once before and it was April 2022- the day the government took all the restrictions I think? I had 3 vaccines at that point but have not had any more. Last year it was just a nuisance and I worked through (WFH) DH and DS were fine and didn't get it and continued working outside the home.
Woke up Monday morning feeling shocking - WFH til lunchtime then threw the towel in and have been off sick. The tiredness has been off the scale- but still a mild illness imo- have been sleeping/resting more - no concentration whatsoever but feeling a lot better. Still very fatigued though- combination of getting a shower/hair done/make up/ walking for 20 mins left me exhausted this afternoon. The snottiness/sore throat/nausea/upset stomach lasted 48 hrs only.

Annaishere · 08/07/2023 00:08

I don’t think I can take getting it again. I’ve been left with severe asthma after recurring infections following my last bout of it

user64829576 · 08/07/2023 00:12

What you describe is mild OP.

I had similar in March this year post-vaccine and felt horrific for a week. But I also had covid pre-vaccine and felt fine.

Nsky62 · 08/07/2023 00:21

Ok it’s a nuisance, I’ve had those symptoms with Parkinson’s, and no doubt others with similar conditions, often get bad vision , optically correct, prob nuro eye issues unknown .
It’s shit and for the last two years.
You coped and it’s not long term

Wisterical · 08/07/2023 00:25

Three days in bed, whilst unpleasant, is not a serious illness. Flu is worse than that.

Framilode · 08/07/2023 00:30

I am fully vaccinated and just had it for the second time. This time was far worse than the last. I am on the third day now and just starting to feel better so I think the length of the illness might be less, but the severity was more.

Annaishere · 08/07/2023 00:33

The first time I had Covid it was comparable to the worst flu of my life. Really badly ill the second time. IMO it was a moderate to severe illness for a lot of people. My brother had pneumonia with a blood clot in his lung as well.

Brrrrrrrrrrrr · 08/07/2023 00:33

It’s a mild disease with unknown long term impacts.

Flidina · 08/07/2023 00:35

I had it again for the 2nd time, 6 weeks ago, I've had all vaccines and it was just as bad as the first time round. I've been really poorly, whilst the rest of the family sailed through it, and still not back to normal yet, 2 lots of antibiotics for a chest infection and a hacking cough, I can't seem to shake. Going for a chest x Ray on Monday, and just got some inhalers to try today, looks like I've got Asthma from it apparently. Really hope I don't get again, anytime soon.

Mumtothreegirlies · 08/07/2023 00:38

It’s pretty common for people who’ve been vaccinated to keep getting it and feeling rough.
nobody in my family has had the vaccine and we haven’t had covid since 2020.

Marsyas · 08/07/2023 00:40

I had it three weeks ago, it knocked me out completely for a week and I have only just stopped having the feeling of not taking in enough oxygen every time I breathe. Apart from the last time I had it in 2021, I have never had another illness like it.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 08/07/2023 00:43

As a side note the rest of the family including a toddler, pregnant woman and me who slept next to him got nothing! He has not had any vaccines since and has been fine! Anecdotal I understand xx

LadinLee · 08/07/2023 00:47

Agree with PPs. A mild illness is something you largely self manage at home over s as few days and doesn't need medical attention. That's what you had. You may have felt tough but the illness was mild.
I've felt really rough at times with a bad cold and had to spend a few days in bed but I still wouldn't say it was a serious illness.

fridaynight1 · 08/07/2023 00:51

Officially, I managed to avoid Covid until January 2023. Although I may have had it at the very beginning but no test was available. I had all the vacs they offered. I felt pretty rough but nowhere near as bad as the flu I had 20 years ago.

But sorry, I'm not minimising Covid. There is a lady who lives in my village who lost her partner to Covid. He wasn't elderly or in a home. Just your average age 50 something man. She appeared in a TV documentary that aired at the height of the pandemic. Poor woman was distraught, she sobbed her heart out - it was very distressing to watch. One of my DC's was in the same class at school as her one of her DC's. I saw her the other day and she just looked so sad. Terrible, terrible virus.

Would you mind stopping the silly misinformation please? Thanks.

Cosycover · 08/07/2023 02:35

I have never been so ill in my life till I had covid. However it was over fairly quickly. I was floored for 3 days, then unwell with flu like symptoms for another 5.

Those 3 days were genuinely hell. I have never felt anything like it and hope I never will again.

My husband caught it about a month after me and was fine.

It's a strange disease.

Newnamehiwhodis · 08/07/2023 02:40

My first bout would have been considered mild too, because I didn’t have to go to the hospital. It was so awful, I couldn’t walk - had to crawl across the room to feed my cats. Even the roots of my hair hurt. I wanted to die.

i haaaaaate Covid …

hope you feel better soon, OP

Nat6999 · 08/07/2023 03:06

I had Covid last December, it wasn't as bad as I expected. I've only had 2 AZ jabs when they first started vaccinating & due to me being housebound & the surgery I use being useless never got offered any more. I started with a sore throat & then a cough, didn't have the shivers, just a mild temperature & even less energy than normal (I have ME/CFS) it took me 12 days to test negative.

Threenow · 08/07/2023 03:21

I agree with others, three days in bed does not make it a serious illness. I've spent three days in bed with a cold in the past. Some people have almost no symptoms, some are floored for a few days, but that is still considered mild.

EliflurtleTripanInfinite · 08/07/2023 03:34

I've had it twice, two weeks I'm completely wiped out, 3 months it's still hanging a major effect on my ability to do things, maybe 40% of normal capacity then gradually improved over a year, the first time. I got it again about 3 months ago and it's still having a very big effect on my body and my life. So yeah not mild here. My friends had similar, but we both have chronic illnesses and she's classed as highly vulnerable.

Candycrushgal · 08/07/2023 03:35

Thanks for all your replies

yea I had it first time after first having vaccines, absolutely no symptoms and felt fine but this time, it floored me completely, I was just wondering also whether these vaccines wear off???
