Anxiety as a symptom?

I've had the most awful week with anxiety, constant heart racing, struggling to breathe, pressure in my chest, as well as tearfullness.

I do get mild anxiety which comes and goes, but never this bad or this constant. The tearfullness is completely unusual, I keep crying for no reason.

The only explanation I can find is that I have Covid, but these are pretty much my only symptoms. No cold/cough symptoms at all, just mild headache and fatigue. I also had weird head tingling for a couple of days.

Has anyone had more neurological and emotional symptoms with Covid?

I'm hoping it's that and it will go away as quickly as it came on, I'm having a really horrible time trying to function!

Oh I forgot to add insomnia into the mix too! Just keep waking up in a panic and struggling to get back to sleep

I had anxiety with covid and have read other people saying so .

Could it be peri-menopause? My anxiety and insomnia came on literally out of the blue.

@Aquamarine1029 I did consider something hormonal as I'm sure there must be a physical reason. I even briefly considered pregnancy as my period was slightly late, but it's now in full flow and still feel as awful. I think it might be too early for peri (38) but maybe not?

Yes I had exactly this after I had Covid last spring. To be fair I had suffered with anxiety before but the heart palpitations, chest tightness etc were much worse.
This happened for a couple of months after, since found out it is a symptom of long covid and wish I had got checked out to be sure.

Definitely worth seeing GP about if it continues.
I thought it was just bad anxiety at the time, mainly mental, plus I had come off birth control so thought it could be that but like you always had an inkling there was something 'physical' involved.

Long-term effects of COVID-19 (long COVID)

Find out about the long-term effects some people can have after having COVID-19. These are sometimes called long COVID.

That sounds just like me @VivaLesTartes , the physical symptoms are just so much worse. That link is very useful, I tick most things on that second part of the list. I hope it won't go on for a couple of months for me too, after less than a week I already feel at the end of my tether. I keep telling myself I can't live this way and bursting into tears, so overwhelming. I want to be able to enjoy life again!
