What country can I travel to for a Covid vaccination for my 5-year old?

She isn't allowed to have it here, because she was born in September - if she had been born two weeks earlier in August she would be able to have it here, but children who have turned 5 since September are not eligible.

Is there any European country that offers Covid vaccination to 5-11 year olds, where we can just walk in and don't have to be residents of that country? I want to get her vaccinated.

Not interested in debate or in talking about why I'd like her vaccinated - just any information on where we can get it done, please.

@hopsalong if the government and NHS were putting our children first, they would be investing in preventing repeat COVID infections. Eg through ventilation and air purifiers in schools and healthcare, and mandatory masking in hospital. Instead we have a government that has completely given up on public health and has set our children up for a lifetime of ill health through repeated infection with a novel virus which daily, we find out new ways it leaves a negative mark on the body, including on children.

Parents should have the choice to vaccinate their kids as one in a series of mitigations against COVID.

But surely they must track people to make sure they're not having repeated injections, for example?

I don't know about Austria but they don't here in the US. I've seen tons of people on Reddit bragging about having multiple vaccine cards where they've literally gotten each type of primary series and boosters that they aren't approved to get. if their state does track then they just go to another. They seem to think it makes them amazing human beings who are saving the world. Mental illness.

@ThaiDye yep, there should be some attempt to reduce risk and prevalence. It also seems crazy that OP and others who wish to vaccinate have to go overseas. There has been no choice in the 'use kids as human vaccines via infection'.

Wow, lots more replies since I checked last. Thanks so much to the posters who suggested I check out Ireland and Vienna, I will do.

I specifically said I wasn't interested in debate or discussion about why I wanted to get my child vaccinated, but just to correct some misinformation that has appeared on this thread:

  • As with Covid vaccinations for adults, it has never been the case that vaccination prevents infection or transmission. But there is good evidence that it can reduce the chance of both.
  • In most other countries Covid vaccination continues to be offered to children between 5-11. The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, France, Japan, Israel, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, China, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, UAE... there is definitely no global trend towards stopping offering Covid vaccination for children where it is wanted.

Oh, and of course the UK is still offering Covid vaccination to any children born before 31 August 2017. They're not, by any stretch of the imagination, saying it's unsafe for 5 year olds. They're just saying that they're stopping offering it to younger children.

My child has been born literally days later and is therefore now ineligible to get the vaccination. If they were two weeks older I could just get an appointment.

Well, of the four vaccines currently used in the UK, only one of them (Pfizer) is being offered to children. So if you're travelling abroad for this purpose, you might want to check which product your child might end up receiving.
