Will my taste ever come back?

Has anybody lost their taste from covid and it's never returned? I had covid about 4 months ago and it's still not back to normal. I can taste but nowhere near as strong as before. Is there anything I can do to try and get it back to normal?

It's taken my husband over 2 years to get his smell and taste back and it's still not 100%. I have friends that have had it back fully after 6 months, it affects everyone differently. Best of luck

I completely lost taste and smell the first time I had Covid in Oct 2020... it has never fully returned to what it was, but does vary in how much I smell/ taste from day to day... so would be interested if anybody has any solutions...

Oh gosh! 2 years is a long time. I'm such a foodie and missing all those wonderful tastes :-(

Mine came back hugely after 10/12 months but is still improving 18 months on.

Oh I was just about to post asking about sense of smell - I had Covid about for months ago and mine is still very impaired. Taste is fine though!

Is there anything to be done to sort of “train” it back? I hate not being able to smell (and also not knowing if I smell!) Occasionally I catch a whiff of something but it doesn’t last; it’s very peculiar

Apparently when it does return, it can be hit and miss too. Someone my friend knows can't eat pork products as they taste weird and wine too. I thought the last couple of bottles of wine I had were a bit meh and threw them away. Now I'm wondering if it's post covid taste not totally back to normal.

Had covid in 2020, took a year to come back properly. Still isn't 100% and I notice it with very strong smells. Frying garlic for example I can barely smell anything. I always had a very good sense of taste and smell before (I am aware that it is and odd boast!) so now it is so dulled I miss it.

I've had covid definitely once since then and it didn't effect my taste or smell.

I had it august 2020, still can't drink coffee. My taste has change I'm much more into plain bland food, max and cheese, mash and gravy. I'm gutted tbh, used to love food.

I had covid a couple of years ago and it took about a year (yes, that long) for my sense of taste to come back.
For the first 3 months I could only taste sweet things and eventually I began to taste other foods.
However, some food tastes completely different now compared to before having covid. Red meat and spicy foods taste unrecognisable even now !😒
I had long covid too so that may be a factor.

I had Covid in April 2022 and completely lost my sense of smell and taste. It took about six months to get almost back to normal. Boiled and scrambled eggs still taste horribly of sulphur (no matter how fresh and perfectly cooked) and my nose is a lot less sensitive than it used to be (can hardly smell perfume unless I practically douse myself in it).

I looked into this before my sense of smell and taste slowly started to come back and tried it with different scents (coffee, lemon, lavender) I already had at home. Google smell training, this website explains it: https://abscent.org/learn-us/smell-training/how-smell-train

Thank you @LemonCat I will have a look through all that. I see it talks about bunny sniffs” which is my main way of smelling perfume now!
