Household testing when one person positive?

I’m positive (again!!)
should I be testing other members of my household (adults and children)?
or should everyone just carry on assuming they don’t have it if they are feeling well?

I tested positive yesterday and so the rest of the household tested also. DS is also positive but states he feels fine, he has a bit of a dry cough but also has asthma so that’s not unusual for him. Called school to say he wouldn’t be coming in as testing positive they said unless he feels too unwell to attend or has a fever he must come in regardless! That being the case I see little point in testing anyone asymptomatic.

Oh wow, so has he gone to school. My children are both at school, didn’t test them as I know the majority of people don’t have tests/won’t test anymore and most have coughs and colds!

just doesn’t sit right with me when I over think it!

What does testing actually achieve?

Hopefullyupwards · 06/01/2023 14:33

We would test in that situation.

We would test. DH can arrange to WFH/work on personal progress to fill out his house. I have two jobs, both high contact, so if I had test I'd do it. Also, my DFs are considerate, so it works both ways.

We've had covid, only tested due to Christmas and seeing vulnerable relatives and dh had a cold. That is all it was, a cold. We wouldn't have tested and even known it was covid had it not been Christmas as no one had a temperature or was unwell at all.

CrackerIsland · 06/01/2023 16:16

@Senso21 No, I told him to stay home. Not testing and so not knowing is one thing but if you actually know you have covid I think it’s irresponsible to go out and mingle with others

Sorry, I assume you understand that taking a test can help show whether you are positive with covid. What are you driving at? Is it to ridicule those who have (or whose employers have) the will and opportunity not to make others ill? Is it something else?

According to 80% of MB users on another active thread on this topic, you should remove yourself from the house and stay on your own in a hotel room 🙄.
I would test if I was unwell and was able to actually get hold of tests, which isn't the case in my area. Hope you're not feeling too rough.
