Day 10 of testing positive, had a fabulous day yesterday, felt really well and energised, today struggling to complete the most basic of tasks, like wading through cement. So frustrating!! Anyone else?

Yes. Fully recovered and back to work Sun, hit me like the proverbial Tuesday. I feel like either it's covid The Return, or I've somehow caught flu. I feel like shit. Feeling very sorry for myself. Tight chest, gurgly tummy, no appetite, shivers, sweats, sleeping most of the day.

Blanketenvy · 06/01/2023 19:32

Yeah it's day 11 for me. Will have a few mins of just feeling tired and then once I'm out of bed doing something within the hour I'm back to feeling awful, fluey, weak, sick. Fed up of it now. I went through a really awful time after covid in 2020 and really thought it would be more coldy this time. Sadly not.

Alexandra2001 · 06/01/2023 19:32

Yes this seems to be the "living with Covid" we keep hearing about... i ve had it on/off for about 4 weeks now.

Vaccines seem to have zero effect on transmission & non vaxxed folk i know aren't getting more severely ill either.

Bananaman123 · 06/01/2023 19:33

Yip, I think overall it took me a month to get to consistently feeling better

Throwncrumbs · 06/01/2023 19:42

Sore throat Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, tested positive Boxing Day so day 11 for me, spent a week in bed as really rough, headache, hot sweaty, faint, nausea etc I have severe asthma so it’s knocked me for six. Felt a bit better yest and today back to feeling crap. Been lucky as this is my first time having covid. Shielded for a year and been very careful, still use masks, have no idea where I picked it up as I know no one else with it atm. I phoned 111 and they phoned back 24 hours later, useless!

Thanks everyone, much as I hate to hear about other people suffering I'm a bit more reassured! I think I've been mentally and physically fighting it, time to accept this will take a while. Wishing everyone well x

It will be up and down unfortunately. Keep being good to your body - nourisng food if you can (its hard when you're tired). The GPs wait 12 weeks before looking into long covid because it can be so up and down recovering.

Aardvvark · 07/01/2023 10:40

Yes! about day 12, had fever/aches for a week, now 'just' exhausted and a cough- one day get a glimmer of energy, next flat out again. Like past flu/viral hepatitis. Am resting/pacing. Getting to point where others seem to think I should be 'better'- which is depressing and highly irritating. this is for me at least a serious viral illness and I never want to get it again....good luck everyone.

Pelo22 · 07/01/2023 10:48

Yep. I've rebounded after anti virals
Positive 27th dec
Negative from 1st Jan (2 tests done)
Legs started aching last night and I have a sore throat, glaring positive again Sad

itstimeforme · 07/01/2023 20:02

Hope everyone has had a good day, I feel dreadful again aching limbs and exhausted. Had a good chat to a friend who said only do things till you feel a bit tired, not till you feel exhausted or your body takes longer to recover. Mentally accepting a slow recovery helps too as I think I've been mentally struggling. I almost feel embarrassed to tell people I still don't feel well! Sleep well fellow sufferers, my bed is already calling x

@itstimeforme

"I almost feel embarrassed to tell people I still don't feel well!"

I totally get this. We're day 5 of our first covid infection. I'm struggling with heart palpitations but playing it down for fear people think I'm being a hypochondriac!. One DC has been particularly effected by intermittent muscles pains. Can be fine then comes crying with leg pain, arm pain, or just crys that she's not feeling well but can't pinpoint what's wrong. Technically we can go back to work and school tomorrow but I dont feel we're ready. Dont want to push things for fear of prolonging recovery or causing a long covid type situation. Feel awkward phoning the school with this as the attitude to covid is that kids should be fine so send them in. I am concerned we all need longer to recover. None of us have any outwardly obvious symptoms like coughs or runny noses so there's nothing to see if that makes sense.

saz2022 · 08/01/2023 13:23

I had Covid from 06.12 to 21.12. I still feel really rough. No appetite, lack of smell and taste and fatigue. I think I'm heading for long covid.

I've got to the stage I can't imagine feeling well again.

Hope everyone improves soon

Blanketenvy · 08/01/2023 14:31

Am still testing positive. Started with symptoms on Xmas day and tested positive on 27th, spent 10 days in bed. Am definitely getting better but it's slow, but I do already have a very longstanding ME diagnosis and then some long covid symptoms from my first infection in 2020 so was not expecting it to be an easy ride. My asthma has definitely flared up a bit but not that bad considering.

itstimeforme · 08/01/2023 14:52

@containsnuts if your DC are still ill keep them at home, one or two extra days at home now is better than more time later on if they go back too soon.

@Blanketenvy @saz2022 get well soon, the frustration is so real. I can't imagine a "normal" day either. I'm trying to prepare a meal but am having to sit down every 20 minutes 😭

The other issue is that I'm in no fit state to take DCs to school (not local). Cant stand more than a few minutes and get palpitations going to the toilet! I would normally rely on elderly parents but DCs are still testing vivid positive at day 5. I know the risk is lower re DCs passing it on at this stage but it still feels like a risk I'm not willing to take.

Aardvvark · 08/01/2023 19:20

sympathy to all fellow sufferers this evening- I had a better day today but no confidence yet that this is it , though am glad to be testing negative now.

agree that it's really important to pace oneself and to accept up and down recovery- I think one problem in the UK is that we have forgotten that many bugs really need a proper convalescence. I'd love a couple of weeks by the sea!
