Likelihood of catching covid

Visited my dying grandfather last night in hospital, no masks were worn as he has advanced dementia and it upsets him to see them. This morning he’s tested positive for covid. Obviously I mopped his brow, kissed his cheeks and head and hugged him, I was with him for 3 hours on my own. What’s the likelihood that I’ve caught covid? I’ve just now heard about his positive result and prior kisses my dc when they woke up, breastfed 2 of my dc.

Weve only had covid once and it wasn’t pretty (this was in October this year).

If you had it in October you will have some immunity.
I wouldn’t give it too much thought. It isn’t a given that you would catch it. No one can really know.
You did a good thing being with your dying Grandfather. You will appreciate that memory, and at least the thought of covid wasn’t hanging over your head preventing you from visiting him, which would have likely happened if you had known before your visit.

There are 4 of us in our household. 3 have had Covid recently. One didn't catch it, despite very frequent hugs and kisses with other household members. It's definitely not inevitable. You being near will have been of great comfort to him, the possibility of Covid is a small price to pay anyway

No idea the likelihood, but I imagine you have some immunity from having it recently.

The medical advice is to keep breastfeeding even if you have it.

Thank you. I definitely don’t regret a thing, he unfortunately passed last night and I managed to be with him again and be with him.

Its also reassuring that we might not have it again because we recently had it, I’d hate to miss the funeral because we’re positive/too poorly to go.

We have had it 5 times in our household and never passed it amongst ourselves. My DS had it twice, my DD once and I hugged and kissed them throughout and never caught it.
