Covid day 12 the fatigue is driving me crazy

I tested positive 12 days ago symptoms have been fairly mild, like a bad cold and a really bad back being the only odd thing. These symptoms passed after about five days. But now I feel totally wiped out. I can only do activities for around three hours before needing to sleep for the rest of the day.

I also feel muzzy and occasionally dizzy, Christmas has been a wipe out with most things cancelled and I'm missing yoga and the gym. I'm also dreading returning to work next week for the busiest month of the year. 50 hr weeks for the first few weeks.

How long has it been for you before this fatigue stops I've not been ill for 11 days in the best part of 25 years

After about 2.5 weeks I could go back to work- teaching KS2. I slept for hours every afternoon, leaving as soon as the children did.
Im still fatigued 16 months later. I had blood tests etc after 5 months, post covid syndrome was diagnosed soon after. I’d genuinely love anything like my previous energy levels back.

Best advice I can give is to really pace yourself and do less than you think you can do. It's been about a year for me. Hope you recover soon.

I'm the same. Wasn't particularly ill - a few days in bed and negative by day 5. But still very tired after doing little. May even be in the same industry as you although I won't be able to do long hours - reckon I will fall asleep.

I'm going in today to do some, although the office is closed, to get a few hours in that I know I won't be able to do next week. It also gives me a chance without the phone ringing etc to work out what I can cope with. I'm hoping I'll be able to do my contracted hours as I'm part time.

I don’t want to come across as rude but have you not read anything over the last 2.5 years on long Covid? People have this for years from Covid. At the stage you’re at with the first time I had Covid pre vaccines I couldn’t get out of bed and ‘do anything’ eg look at phone, empty dishwasher for longer than 10 mins without feeling dizzy and exhausted and having to go back to bed. Second time I was like that for 2 weeks then not too bad. Be careful, rest and let yourself heal. Severity of initial infection is not really anything to do with long Covid. Also do please think of those who have been feeling as you do right now for over 2 years now. It’s horrendous and they are all out there trying to warn people yet people do seem largely oblivious. Good food, loads and loads of rest and time off if you need it. Look up ‘pacing’ to help over the coming days.

I wouldn’t go back to work if you still feel exhausted. You would be risking this going on a lot longer if you do. Rest and time is the answer- frustratingly.

Me too. Had only mild respiratory symptoms but just finished my 12th day mostly in bed.
I am exhausted and can only be up for a short time before I need to go back to bed again. It's awful: I don't know what to do to make myself better. 😭
