To test or not to test…

If someone you live with has tested positive do you need to test before going to school/work/public places etc… even if you feel absolutely fine?

It just feels so wrong to be mixing with others when we could have it but it’s expensive to keep testing! What are people doing?

Last time one of us had it we all stayed home for two weeks and one by one we all succumbed to it although none of us had any major symptoms. It took ages for the tests to stop showing as positive. I’d very much like to bury my head in the sand this time but I feel so guilty!

No, you don’t need to test.

I did as it felt the right thing to do. I tested negative but still stayed away from the office just in case.

I dodged Covid but picked up a horrible cold instead!

It does feel like the right thing to do but on the other hand I could do without the expense of buying tests for every day, last time there were 10 days between the first and last person in our household testing positive, that’s a lot of tests!

… not to mention all the tests afterwards when you’re trying to know when it’s safe to go out again.

No, I would only test if you have symptoms.
unless I was living with someone with Covid and felt okay but might pop into mil’s.
And even then, would probably make no plans to go and see anyone vulnerable but I certainly wouldn’t be testing everyone unless symptomatic.

Im in similar situation someone i worked closely with now positive so chance I may catch it
I can't afford to test daily just cost me £10 for 5 tests
I tested the day they were posifive incase we caught it at work and negative.
Im wfh today and not going out , did wake up with a headache but it felt like stuffy headache from CH , and it went in 30 mins with no medication.
So i think I won't bother to test today ( unless symptoms appear)
Going out for a meal tomorrow so think even if i don't have symptoms will test to see
Then going to my parents for xmas who have said come regardless so again if no symptoms I don't think I will test, or maybe just xmas morning just incase
Then thats day 5 so I will not test at all unless have symptoms as would assume would show by then or could of picked up elsewhere anyway

I've had a thumping headache and cough/temp last two days. One of my sons too. We both did tests as we're supposed to be seeing my mother 76, on Sat so wanted to do it for her. Negative.
We had tests left over from school_work. I wouldn't keep buying them though.

There is no obligation to test anymore, but if people are able to it is a good idea. We have always isolated the positive person within the house as best we can and tested the rest of us before going anywhere. It does get costly though but we can afford it at the moment so would rather do it for peace of mind.
