Depends what age you are and whether you are at high risk. Only over 50s or those with high risk factors are being offered a 4th dose

KangarooKenny · 24/10/2022 16:48

I recently had covid, and I’m not rushing for my booster.

Useyourfork · 24/10/2022 17:53

Had 3 jabs and Covid April. Still testing higher level antibodies.(ons survey) Won’t be having booster as it has been modified for strains circulating in April not current strains. I can’t see it being worth it for me personally. I would consider having Novavax though, as I’ve heard that it could have better neutralising capabilities against future variants.

I'm in the right age bracket bit not high risk.

It's been offered to your age group because of the benefits.

Your choice as to whether you want to take this up, but it's not really about three being enough or not - just like with 'flu a seasonal booster is needed to maintain a reasonable level of immunity againt currently circulating variants/strains.

Cameleongirl · 26/10/2022 00:14

I’ve had my fourth as I don’t want to risk giving Covid to my elderly Dad, who has many health conditions.

I haven’t had Covid either!

Vapeyvapevape · 26/10/2022 01:05

I had my 4th jab yesterday, I'm not cv just in the 50+ age bracket, I have felt absolutely shocking today , achey, sweating, pounding headache and can hardly stand up , I haven't reacted to previous jabs and haven't had covid.

MarshaMelrose · 26/10/2022 01:18

I've not had covid but I had my 4th jab last month to avoid giving it to my mum who has dementia. It was a lot easier to get than the flu jab, I can tell you that! However, I've had both and had no ill-effects whatsoever from either.

Stressybetty · 26/10/2022 01:59

DH and I had ours this afternoon. He's over 50, I'm not but have CFS/ME and we both care for MIL who lives with us. Feeling sick, freezing cold and can't stop shaking. In bed with blanket on high, DH of course is fine. Still trying to sort out one for MIL as she had all hers overseas, trying to avoid driving her 1-2 hours to update NHS website

Cameleongirl · 26/10/2022 02:26

I felt lousy the day after mine, but recovered quickly.

SkylightSkylight · 26/10/2022 02:31

I had both the Covid Jab & the flu jab 3 weeks ago. Needing an annual booster doesn't mean they don't work! I felt a little tired all weekend, but that was all.

I don't understand why you wouldn't, it's hardly onerous.

RiverSkater · 26/10/2022 11:06

Had Covid 2 months after second jab and it hit me like a bus so hate to think how it would have been with no jab.

Self employed too so booster no brainer for me.

PAFMO · 29/10/2022 08:16

Ask your medical practitioner whether they recommend it for you.

RoseAndRose · 29/10/2022 08:22

Level of protection wanes over time.

Worth getting topped up, unless you can afford 7 or more days off work if you get it badly (and plenty do) and don't mind risking long covid

BIWI · 29/10/2022 08:25

I've just had my fourth, and also the flu jab. The concern, this winter, is that flu cases are on the rise, and Covid levels are still high - if you get both Covid and flu you could be very seriously ill.

I don't want either! So I had my jab. The one I had covers both earlier and the more recent strains of Covid.

I can't see why you wouldn't want it, to be honest.

Vallmo47 · 29/10/2022 08:30

Had the fourth booster jab, along with flu jab, 3 weeks ago. I’m considered vulnerable to covid and have already had it twice. Even if I wasn’t vulnerable to it I’d have the vaccine in order to protect those who are- for me it’s a no brainer. I had a sore arm for one day and soon forgot all about it.

I've had it because I don't want to get long covid.

IncessantNameChanger · 29/10/2022 15:28

Had covid twice now. Pre and post vaccine. I have had three doses and I'm not getting anymore. My side effects probably put my in hospital but of course I can't be 100% sure it was the vaccine. I have a science degree so I'm most definitely not anti vaccine and vastly more knowledgeable than the adverage person on virology etc. But even though I think covid vaccines are the only proper game changer we have and are fantastic. But on a personal level I don't expect to get seriously ill with covid on my third infection. I know for a fact I spread it as well the last time I had it. So on balance, I don't think having a fourth serves much purpose. For me personally. There is a need for a degree of personal risk assessment and I keep telling people that things like "1 in a million chance of a clot" means nothing to the person who was that one in a million. I doubt many people are in my situation though.
