Have been prescribed this today as I’m high risk and positive.
has anyone taken this?
I feel very fluey but not unmanageable, worried the side effects of Paxlovid might be worse than the covid!

I took Paxlovid, and I'd say well worth it. I didn't have any side-effects, though some people have said it leaves a tinny taste in the mouth. The main benefit is that it prevents the virus from doing too much damage to your body by suppressing it fast. I took it on the day after I first tested positive and tested negative three days later. Symptoms that had been quite bad went away fast. I had Paxlovid rebound, as it's known, which was a drag – tested positive again five days later, with minor sniffles, and got better really fast. So the doctor explained that if some virus remains after taking it, you can get rebound, and your immune system kicks in to knock the rest on the head. If you're lucky enough to have the opportunity to take it, it's worth it, I would definitely do so.

I started this on the day I tested positive which was last Wednesday . I got on really well with it and have been really surprised with how mild my Covid has been .👍🏻

Thanks both so helpful.
move woken up feeling a bit better today. Got the pills but am unsure whether to take them! I have crohns and give the side effects I’m not sure if they will do me more harm than good. Also read up about rebound @SylvieBattaglia and that’s really put me off!
I’m so undecided!

Although @SylvieBattaglia I had read that rebound is usually just as bad as your first lot so it’s reassuring that yours was mild x

Hello - I would say, don't be put off by rebound possibility. You need to start taking them as soon as possible to get the benefit i.e. before the virus get a grip on you. I talked with several people too before making my decision. In the end, I decided that a known chance of benefit was preferable to unknown anecdotal possibilities of side-effects or rebound. And I'm saying that even after having had rebound. I would do the same again. Best case scenario is that you get better really fast and have little virus damage - remember that this virus can cause long-term as well as short-term damage to the body. In the end, there is no way of being certain about your outcome either way, so I chose what was known to me over speculation. That's how I did it, and I live with another CEV person as well, so the decision had quite serious consequences for me either way.

@SylvieBattaglia You’re so very right. Thanks for the hand hold!
I ended up taking them this morning, already have the taste in my mouth (yuk) but to be honest I’ve gone so off food anyway I’m not that fussed!

OP how did you get on in the end?
I've started today and feeling really sick. Side effects seem horrific.
