Serious question! If you test positive, do you record it on the gov website? Is it still a thing??

DH and DD tested positive after the restrictions were lifted (months ago) and we didn't bother. Is there any point?? Apart from friends in healthcare where it's still mandatory to test, are many people still testing??? Where are these positive numbers coming from???

I did as I wanted it on my medical record in case it made my long Covid worse (reported the first time too but that was back in March), but now used the last of my NHS tests so won't be able to next time.

You only need to report a positive if you qualify for treatment as it triggers the process.
They don't use reported figures for numbers, that's done by ONS who do random tests and calculate statistics from them. I know several people who have been doing these tests right through the pandemic.
I get free tests due to weak immune system. DH tested positive a mnoth ago but I didn't report it. I tested positive last week and went online to report it. The next day I was contacted by the hospital to arrange anti virals or MCABs.

That's interesting, thanks for the info.
