Any tips or advice?

Currently stuck in Florida due to the hurricane so can't contact my midwife. Due to fly back on Monday too 🙃

I had it around the Same time, absolutely rough but it passes. Keep the fever under control. Make sure you eat even when you don't want to. Force the fluids down. And I must stress afterwards you're immune system will be super weak so make sure you take it easy for the first two weeks xxx

@Tabitha888 thanks for your help! I only tested as my SIL felt rough too and tested.

A couple of days ago I felt horrendous - headache like my head would explode, being sick, tired, aching etc but the last couple of days have been a bit better. Still have a bit of a cough but mostly it's just phlegm on my chest and a stuffy nose. I also have a 2 year old so resting isn't too easy, particularly on holiday 😂

Would you recommend speaking to my midwife?

How’s your breathing? You mentioned your cough but is your breathing laboured? Do you feel the covid is getting worse? I don’t want to frighten you and I had it later than you at 36 weeks anyway but I ended up in hospital on oxygen then an emergency section under GA coz neither me or the lass were getting enough oxygen and her heart rate rocketed over 190 from 118 it was at when they first stuck the monitor on. This wasn’t when I first tested positive I was four days into it

@HighlandPony breathing isn't too bad. I feel short of breath when singing to my little one or walking lots etc but previous to today, had put that down to just being pregnant (second baby so I'm already much bigger than I was first time around)

I'll defo keep an eye and if things get worse I'll go to an ER here or call my midwife back home.

We were meant to fly home Thursday and stuck here until Monday - just want my own bed now too so this is the icing on the cake really!

Please do. It was my third pregnancy too so I know what you mean but I went from being out of breath climbing the stairs to get my hospital bag to gasping on the 20 min drive to the hospital. I’m sure you will be fine but do you know where you would need to go if you did need to be seen over there?

2020firsttimemum · 01/10/2022 03:33

@HighlandPony oh gosh that sounds terrifying! I hope you were both okay?! I'm nowhere near that yet and I've generally been doing normal activities other than a few extra naps (felt exhausted( and one day where I felt SO ill

No I'm not really sure tbh, I'll have a Google and see where the closest place is. Worst case I can always call 911 or their non emergency line x

We are peachy. Except we’re back to taking 2 ounces every two hours so I’m up at half three in the morning but I wouldn’t swap it for the world. I’m sure you will be fine but just don’t take chances if you think you’re getting worse.

2020firsttimemum · 01/10/2022 03:49

@HighlandPony oh bless you, the newborn days are tough and I still remember them well! The nights seem so long for a while but you've got this!
I will don't worry, as long as she's okay then that's all that matters. I felt her earlier today too so I don't have any real worries at the moment thankfully

That’s fantastic. I sort of miss being pregnant. Because of how it ended I feel like I missed out really. And I’m rusty. There’s an 8 year age gave between this one and the one before. Fingers crossed all goes well and you get home Monday

SassyPants87 · 07/10/2022 22:55

I’m currently getting over it at 37 weeks pregnant! Definitely contact your midwife/hospital when you can. It’s standard practise for pregnant women to be on blood thinning injections if they have covid as there is a high risk of pregnant women getting blood clots with covid

2020firsttimemum · 08/10/2022 08:31

@SassyPants87 thanks for this. I did talk to a couple of friends after this post and they mentioned fragmin too. How long did you have to take it for? I had it after my section and I hated every second of it so I'm terrified to take it again for a prolonged period of time!
I have a midwife call on Monday so I'll discuss with her then

@2020firsttimemum i got told to take it for 14 days, currently on day 7 of them. I hate them too! Probably because my husband doesn’t do them properly!
